Just to confirm @DeathChaos25 and @Omegablu I can't install this is without cfw installed on my 3ds correct and @Omegablu would this be the same for your boss only characters. I can't just use feftwiddler to add the units.

Ok, I have the V4 DLC installed right now. If I want to use V6, after wiping the g_ folders, do I load a save that doesn't have the added characters then add them or will the game be fine if I just load my save normally? (I doubt it)
You don't need to save, you can even load up a save that had them before the wipe.
Just load any save, doesn't matter which one, go to dragon's gate, and load up the DLC so that it installs the asset, then on the save prompt screen, just reset your game instead of saving.
You can load them, it's going to say that it's missing data and that continuing will delete it, that's false, as long as you don't save you'll be fine.
No, I mean the save data in the Extdata didn't import when using the save manager, and that was where I had my main save. So now I'm gonna speedrun to Revelation Chapter 14, which was the chapter where I was before.
Oh, well, this is why I said to delete all of the files EXCEPT g_contents.bin.
You don't need to speedrun to 14 again, just take a dummy save, and save over all the extra slots, and importing your extdata again should import your saves successfully.
...oh. Checking the first post, it doesn't mention anything about not deleting g_contents.bin. Anyway, I'll give that a try...wait, will importing my extdata delete the new g_ files or will they stay?
EDIT: Aaaaannnndddd.....loading the save caused my game to crash.

It seems when I edited the OP to add that in I made the note on the wrong place, so it's not clear and wasn't grouped with the instructions themselves, sorry, but that should be fixed now.
Do the following, and it should work out fine.
Delete your current extdata, go to the game, let it create a new extdata, take any save and save over all extra save slots you had, and then import your old extdata, this should get your saves back.
Then you're free to utilize the DLC and install the new assets.
You need CFW and you can't just use FEFTwiddler to add them because the game won't have their data.
Ok, that is weird. I know I had a save file in the 1st slot on the 1st extra save page, but now it isn't there. Also, is the back ups meant to have two files per save? One has a ~ next to the bak instead of nothing there.
EDIT: and crash again. Maybe I just put the normal DLC back on first. EDIT 2: Nope, still crashes.

I have an idea about how to get the characters without cfw. I just need to fully finish it.
omg if you can make that happen i will love you foever!!. im on 11.00 so there is no way for me to downgrade without hardmod or i would have done it. please make this happen. MANY THANKS
I've got to v2 finished of my dlc before really think about working on it. Thanks for the offer.
I'm actually really interested in your theory. Even as someone who's on CFW already, if that would be possible, that just sounds insane. So many of my friends are on 11.0 (despite me telling them its not hard to set up CFW) and are jealous of my units.
Well, if it is what I think it is, I have a few theories as well, it probably involves extdata and the "g_contents.bin" file, this is the file directory that tells the game what files to read from the extdata, although I don't think it's as simple as us giving you an extdata and you restoring that, I could make a backup of mine for you guys to try.
I think the biggest catch for both Deathchaos and myself is that we haven't bothered to write up a set of instructions.
