So far no which is mind boggling to me

Why is it surprising that people don't want to risk bricking their system twice in one day?

I see you haven't tried it as of yet, and you seem to be the biggest advocate. If that's the case, it should be obvious no one wants to do it.

Just downgraded my 3DS XL (EUR) and was... succesfull
When I turned it on after downgrade It took longer to load the 3ds and de Blue Led above the "R" started blinking... that made me nervous :)
but everything was allright
I've also got a system Update popup when I started (there must be a firmware update somewhere on my SD card but thats no problem for know)

My 3ds XL is from the first batch in Europe an believe it was was on 4.5
