Just out of curiosity, do you remember which games you bought?

Hey, he tried to help you. He could have just ignored the thread. Even if you don't like his answer you can at least just say thank you for the effort.

The argument goin on rite now is kiddie stuff and I apologize if I offended anyone, case closed, now moving on, should I buy one right now, or could I wait a little bit to get it cheaper, does anyone know if it's goin on sale anytime soon?

How did you get tricked twice? Why not buy from a trusted site, or from a retail store?

I'm sorry for not giving you a clear answer. No a 3ds is not worth the money, but a 3ds xl is definitely worth the money.

Well I would say if you have the coin buy it now as it is a great system. The library is strong with lots of RPG, Nintendo favorites, and interesting eShop Indy titles.....If you live in the US then you can catch them on sale at major retailers every few weeks. I see XL going for $179 at Target, Walmart, Miejers a few times a month so just watch the flyers....if you are not in the US then who knows. With the roll it is on I don't think you will see a major price drop soon, even though Vita just went to $199 in the US I think Nintendo will just op to counter with more bundles which can sometimes be a good deal. Maybe we will see the non-XL drop a little sooner if its sales start to lag but suprisingly it is still selling strong. I have owned both 3DS and XL and actually find pros/cons on both units but overall if I could only have one would want an XL at this point as the screen is just huge and even DS games look great on it. I am not a huge fan of the 3D effect as it will just make your eyes bleed if you use it too much....I mean it is cool and sometimes what I will do is switch it on for the cut scenes and then play the game with it off. Given its relatively limited horsepower and not that high of resolution some games look really good. I think the analogue stick on it is excellent and still prefer it over the Vitas sticks. If you like RPGs you couldn't own a better system right now with great games like Etrian Oddessy, 3 SMT games, Fire Emblem, Tales of the Abyss, Kingdom Hearts. Also a great system for platformers as all Nintendo systems are with 2 excellent mario games, Donkey Kong, and the new Castlevania, and Cave Sory 3D.

I hope that helps and honestly it is a great handheld experience and I like the clamshell design Nintendo has used since the GBA SP because it is just a more durable and portable design. I also own a Vita and it is a nice system and is getting more great games by the month. If you want a more 'console' like experience then go with a Vita once the price drop kicks in. It also has a lot of good indy games and you also can get a lot of good PSP and PS1 games from PSN. Also the Vita is a much stronger media player as you can buy a lot of movies, sports events, and tv shows off PSN. You can get netflix on both systems, but one thing that has dissapointed is that Nintendo hasn't made more arrangements to bring 3D movies to the 3DS as that would be cool.

Ridge Racer, Pilot Wings, Mario kart and Mario 3D land. It's just the same as a PSP which is released a long time ago, I often play Battlefield 3 on my Gaming Pc and aside from that my friend has a PS Vita ( no geamz i know) It's just the 3DS graphics look very ugly, low res textures, no AA, Low Res screens ( Most phones are even HD?)

For the love of God, we have yet another pointless argument. Here's an idea: Try to stay on topic. Yes, given that the 3DS was just hacked and a flashcard is available, I would buy a 3DS if it meets the firmware requirements.

Well I've already apologized once, trying to keep the peace, and that obviously doesn't seem to work. And how much does that flash cart cost, I've been looking all around for a place to buy it.

Thanks for the link, now when you first buy a 3ds, is it on the newest firmware, or the oldest?

That can vary......Most units at reatail are still likely on 4.5 or below if they were manufatured before May or earlier. The only units known to be on 5.1 are the new black 3DS XL and the Animal Crossings bundled unit. One sure fire bet is to look at the box and if it copyright date is 2012 and not 2013 then you know you are getting a 4.5 or earlier model. As others have stated the best thing to do is go to a shop or store that doesn't move a lot of stock as they will likely have older units, if you go to gamestop or best buy you are more likely to get a newer unit. If you can still find a Mario Kart bundle on an XL those were 4.x or a Zelda or Fire Emblem bundle of a 3DS those would also be 4.x or lower.

Also to robo99....I pretty much agree with you that this thread is off topic and in the wrong place.....still I don't think we need to fly off the handle and start throwing shit bombs.

To Mar!0.....look we are all pretty much 3DS owners here and in a 3DS forum so you may get varying feedback but pretty much everyone here likes the 3DS or we would have sold it and be on a Vita forum....I gave you plenty of good examples of pros and cons on the 3DS and also some info on Vita so it really comes down to you....do you like portable gaming, and will you use it enough to get value?

Don't listen the grafx whores as well they are grafx whores and IMO are poor ass excuses for gamers. In my mind playing Castlevania SOTN or Metriod Fusion is just as worthwhile and a better gaming experience then half the 'pretty' shit that comes out today..if a game has good bones then who cares what it looks like. Most you grafx whores are piss poor losers and I bet if I put you on and old school 2D platformer you would fail badly and if you want to throw down in a 2D fighter you would get your asses kicked......most of you just want the next FPS and that is all you are good at and then half the time you use cheats and mods to improve your kill ratio because you suck and have no real skill or gaming reflexes.....grafx whores are a bigger detriment to gaming then the casuals and that is really saying something....sorry for the rant but that is my hot button as I remember the days of the orginal arcade games and stuff like pitfall and load runner and ultima and those games were just as much fun as the best stuff we get today which is why they are considered classics. ...end rant.

Nice post, this just about wraps up this thread I guess.

Plus I completely agree with you about the grafx whores, I love oldschool.

Well I've wanted one ever since it came out, I've tried buying one twice but long story short, I got gyped out of my money both times. The time has come again and I'm wondering if it is really worth it. Is it really all that good, or is it just overrated?

I think it is good just that the promos always cost more than the actual game in the promo and theres no homebrew yet plus if they bring GBA or any pokemon to vitrual console it will be awesome

This thread is amusing to read

OP, if you're out of the house a lot and have opportunities to play the 3DS, I'd get it. Several great games like Mario and Zero Escape.

Loving that statement....to the guy you replied to I say go play angry birds on your HD phone and STFU....I mean virtual gamepads are so damned lame only a few games created for play on a touch screen are really worth a damned (like angry birds) but even then they are not the same expierence as playing something on a real gaming handheld.....if phones were all that for gaming then the 3DS would not be selling like hotcakes and have over 30mil units already sold in a little over 2 years. 3DS will never reach the 150mil level of DS but 75-100mil is very likely given the fact the library is just going to keep getting better and better....I mean Pokemon, Zelda incoming.....Fairly Brave, Yoshi, SSB and who knows what else next year....please God (I mean Nintendo) bring us a new 2D metriod platformer on 3DS.....pleaaaasee...and konami get back to the Castlevania formula that worked so well on GBA and DS and screw whatever you were trying with the recent 3DS one.
