Does the 3DS have reverse charge protection?

Long story short my charger doesn't work anymore so I thought I cut it up, solder it to a USB-A connector and use a normal phone charger to charge it.
Now I'm pretty sure the positive is on the inside and negative on the outside and that I have soldered it correctly, however to be completely sure I wanted to ask if there is a protection inside the 3DS in case I messed up and connected it backwards.

I'd like it to not blow up in my face.

I know I did a shit job of soldering but this was slapped together in a few minutes and I normally don't work with electronics.
Why would I do this instead of buying a new charger? I really don't know.

EDIT:
I've tried it a few days ago and it appears to be an issue of the cable not the adapter, unlike I originally thought. Everything was correctly soldered but the 3DS didn't charge properly (LED switching on and off in irregular intervals based on how I held it)

My guess is the cable is broken somewhere inside but to be fair it held up almost a decade so I guess it deserves rest. It also can't be my 3DS as I have two and both have the same issue and I doubt both handhelds are gonna stop charging properly at the same time.

For anyone is interested: the inner cable is positive and the outer is ground, like shown in the picture.

When I lost my charger I just bought a USB-A to 3DS cable, and it works fine with a regular phone charger.
I've heard that the device will draw what it needs, but I also know that the DSi/3DS is expecting 900mA at 5V for it's charging circuit. So, I would just use 1A USB chargers when I use the USB charging cable. They're also pretty cheap on Amazon.

It doesn't matter how much mA the charger gives, it's the 5V that is important.
If your using a charger with 2A the 3DS will only draw 900mA anyway, and if the charger is only 500mA the 3DS will charge at half speed (and you properly won't be able to play and charge at the same time)

But, yes - 1A charger is perfect for the 3DS.

I believe that people have blown fuses in their 3dses by putting the battery in backwards, so probably not.
