Nope, atm you can only play games requiring 4.5 or less as the 3DS has to be on 4.1-4.5 for it to work to begin with and cant go higher..

Yeah I know, but Gateway seem to believe they can get it working on 6.2...
If they cant even do that, then yeah you're right, even worse.

who cares about reviews at this point? it is already known that the thing doesn't work with new games. You already see how it works in the video too, if the reviewer guy here gets it than nothing he says can change that.

even if they aren't able to get it working on 6.x+ ofw, who knows, maybe someday someone finds a way to hack the games to work on lower fw or someone creates a 6.x+ cfw who knows. it was possible on psp and ps3, maybe someone does it for the 3ds ^^

Thank goodness i am only on 5.1.11-U ^_^. I have not updated my 3DS and hope that they will come out with a solution for higher firmwares. You never know, maybe someone could take this chip apart and figure out the missing puzzle. Lmfao, just like banjo kazzoie when on the carpet and you look at bottles picture hahaha. Myth busted ;)

They will likely skip 5.1 if possible and go straight for the latest.

When you have total kernel control, you can do anything you want on the device, including modifying its firmware to work the way you want it to work. It is not that hard as you think it is. The problem was and still is to get an exploit to get you kernel access in the first place, the next steps are a piece of cake for a team of talented programmers... Does the PSP have a problem loading roms instead of UMDs? Does it have a problem running custom code? Did the games need patching of any kind? Well, maybe in the beginning, but as hackers became more capable and more accustomed to it, they modyfied it to play everything untouched...

So either the Gateway made their solution in this way to profit, or their hack is not giving them total kernel control and just allows them to use a fake 3DS cart.

I know it is difficult to create a cfw for the 3DS, but that is where all the fun is, and the scene will be better for it in the long term.
Of course its not hard if you have access to kernel mode, but seeing how the exploit works (the overflow already mentioned in 3dsbrew wiki) I really doubt they have kernel access. Also every game needs a patch to be run from a SD. Like ps3 needs generic patches for peek (and other) system functions. DS games included. (Those generic patches are normally applied on the fly before the game boots up)

Got a Gateway 3DS in my hands.

The packaging is a thick plastic. It has the Gateway logo on the front, and RoHS compliant logo on the back, and nothing more. Inside is a clear plastic tray that holds the two kits. The grey kit with the blue logo doesn't like to stay in the tray, it always comes loose. The white kit has an aquamarine PCB with a centered msd slot. The grey kit has a red PCB with a traditionally right mounted msd slot. Both kits feel high quality, for Flash Kits, and seem well made. I can't comment on anything else as I was one of the unlucky few who updated long before the Gateway 3DS was announced. The team commented via e-mail that they are working on exploit updates for 5x and 6x. I am waiting to see if they come up with anything before I look for a lower firmware 3DS.

Devin left me a msg that his kit should be arriving today as well. Turn to him for more hands-on impressions.

I mirrored the Gateway 3DS instructions manual and setup files, and the recommended disk imager to filetrip.
