Also, nintendo doesnt knows that maybe 1/4 of their sales are DS bricks of ppl trying to hack it, they will lose sales! xD

Of course, this is just an assumption and intended to be a joke...

i love when they release it in jap then here because by the time it comes here it will be hacked

yeah but then we have to wait longer o.o

also dsi was never fully hacked, only the DS mode. there's no known way to pirate DSiWare also.

anyways why not just buy the system and games when it comes out? it usually comes out in US first anyways, and if you want you can sell your games after it gets hacked

Sometimes I think I'm like everyone else, but then I'm proved wrong. I bought over 30 DS games before flashcarts were an option. I bought 6 Wii games (Yeah, there were only six must-have titles) before the Twilight Princess hack. But still, I had no problem paying for quality games on a new system, just to be able to experience the magic. I still buy Xbox 360 and PS3 games (never pirated), because they offer an experience that's worth paying for. I will admit that I only buy USED games, so the industry still isn't making money off my gaming purchases. This brings up a great point.

How come all these companies only talk about piracy, and not sales of USED copies, most attributed by giant companies like GameStop? I'd be willing to bet that actual sales are more hurt by people buying used copies of games, than pirating. People who pirate probably wouldn't have bought that game brand new in the first place. But that guy buying the used copy would've, it's just that he decided to save a few bucks by buying it used. I guess they have to blame somebody as to why their crappy game didn't sell as expected.

The Nintendo DS has patented anti-piracy measures built into the MX ROM chip of each game which feeds data back and forth between the ROM cartridge and the DS, hence piracy will be impossible.

Oh wait....

I hope so but I still fear this may be true. They invested in alot for it to become 3D and have new features expect the latest technological ways to prevent piracy. I think it is not a guarantee but it can be hacked once it is released. I expect all the competitors to make new flashcarts after it is hacked so DSTWO may need to bump over if it does not work on 3DS.

Wouldn't the best method of anti-piracy be to stop the shovelware? Honestly, the main motivation for me is that I don't want to waste even a dollar on a title that is most likely not worth a dime. Then, if I wasn't struggling due to the economy, I would have no problem buying a legit copy of a game once I know it's worth it, but since I already have a working full version and no money to spare...

Ninty needs to reduce the amount of crap games they allow on their systems, so we can trust that a title is worth the cost. Then it wouldn't feel like such a gamble to pay for a game I've never tried (since renting is rarely an option for handhelds)

EDIT: Lol, just read a few more posts and saw the one about THQ's (false) statement about piracy affecting their production... that's the statement that prompted my rant - THQ is one of the most notorious producers of shovelware (and games with potential, that fail due to poor programming and crappy interfaces). If piracy caused them to release fewer titles for the DS, then I think I may go download every ROM they've ever produced just to see if it stops them completely...

They already started attacking used game sales. EA, UbiSoft and others are making buyers of used games pay an extra $10 for the additional features new game customers get. Just google "Used games EA or Ubisoft". It was in the news for weeks and there are still more companies adopting the program.

They could very easily thwart used game chain stores now since there is only one and that one (gamestop) is tied closely with the software vendors and manufacturers. All they have to do is tell them to stop and they will. And then you will see all the mom and pop stores prop up again LIKE IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE remember Funcoland? that store was enormously better than Gamestop.

You mean the original good store prior to Gamestop? The one that actually did a damn fine job of selling games? The one that had a bunch of systems of various origins and age set-up at all times for us to enjoy (unlimited time if we bought something)? The one that used to print out major release titles and older game trade-in values on newspaper and send it out free? Never heard of it

Oh how I wish EB-Games and Gamestop were still competitors... at least then they were more focused (EB carried more PC titles and G-Stop carried more console titles... although it did also depend on location).

Hmm sounds like a lot of you youngsters don't appreciate what people go through to make games. I'm not judging anybody that download games, cuz I'm just as wrong. But when I download a game and it's a great game I will buy that game. To support the company and the industry of people that work hard to make/produce such great content.

same here actually. the video games is an addiction that should be thwarted by anti piracy hardware. and don't take this reply as satire.

also you guys realize that one big factor in video game piracy that stands the test of time and also gives the slap on the wrist is:

fact: most piracy scene groups are run by minors and hence less reprecussions usually are given. and in this also is more interest in obtaining and releasing games. I remember Razor 1911 was mostly 15 year olds back in the 1990s. I was blown away when I found that out.

The ones that had the various game tourney's if they felt up to it (Power Stone for the Dreamcast was the favorite of the store I lived near).

And what exactly are the "New" features that are worthy of $10.00? I don't buy any add-ons, or downloadable content for any of my games. I buy them used, play them thoroughly, and save a chunk of money by not purchasing them new. Give me one good example what these dumb compainies could possibly offer to persuade me into buying their games brand new? You mentiion that this is a current issue, but could you link to it? There's no reason to buy new games, and even LameStop's exclusive bullshit can be achieved via other methods. The game industry's future is going to rely upon great games, and nothing else. I hope, and expect a renaissaince of sorts, where artist's and quality games dominate the market, and make all the money-hungry shovelware adopters realize that there isn't a demand for crap. I don't demand crap, I hope you don't either, so hopefully we'll see companies compete for our dollars with quality games.

Then I say "Compete for our Dollars," which is ridiculous on gbatemp forums, because nobody spends dollars on software here, only dollars on hardware and flashcarts. I feel piracy was too convenient for this current generation of hardware, and perhaps by restricting our ability to pirate, we will end up like everyone in the past. I remember what it was like to pay for games, saving my allowance, getting my first job. I'm not against paying for games again, as long as they're worth the price of admission. As for all the cheap fucks out there waitng for flashcarts, well, I could care less.

3DS support SD card. May be we don't even need a flash cart. Look at Wii virtual console, it was said impossible to hack but somebody did it anyway.

I didn't take it as satire and I was being sincere as well. Perhaps you and I will someday be reformed pirates talking about the golden age of video game piracy, hmm?

The future is bad for pirates! The PS3 is not Cracked, gehot has aillleurs stop singing! And if the PS3 does not crack, so the following consoles sony will not too! In terms of Nintendo, the DSi was not even cracked, not because there is no interest but because the hackers simply can not! In the logic of things, whether the DSi will not be cracked, then the 3ds either because it is still better protected! Now let's say it will be possible to put on 3ds linkers, well it will not be better news for the good games do come out more because of loss of money. Take advantage of all my dear friends because when the cloud Gaming will be installed (to play in connecting to a server) will end the piracy! The output of the 3ds is an opportunity to see the supercard team and others to be beaten by nintendo haha

Hell no we cant give up there is ALWAYS a way. think back to when we still actually bought games we never imagined things like this would be possible now its 10 years or more in the making and technology is only getting better some one will come and pave the road for the pirates and i might be that he is only seven (though that is highly unlikely) or 30. Piracy will not end
