I bought 6 Wii games (Yeah, there were only six must-have titles) before the Twilight Princess hack. But still, I had no problem paying for quality games on a new system, just to be able to experience the magic. I still buy Xbox 360 and PS3 games (never pirated), because they offer an experience that's worth paying for. I will admit that I only buy USED games, so the industry still isn't making money off my gaming purchases. This brings up a great point.
How come all these companies only talk about piracy, and not sales of USED copies, most attributed by giant companies like GameStop? I'd be willing to bet that actual sales are more hurt by people buying used copies of games, than pirating. People who pirate probably wouldn't have bought that game brand new in the first place. But that guy buying the used copy would've, it's just that he decided to save a few bucks by buying it used. I guess they have to blame somebody as to why their crappy game didn't sell as expected.

And then you will see all the mom and pop stores prop up again LIKE IT IS SUPPOSE TO BE remember Funcoland? that store was enormously better than Gamestop.
This is almost always true with piracy, fortunatelyDavid600Villa said:Nothing is impossible, it just takes time

You mean the original good store prior to Gamestop? The one that actually did a damn fine job of selling games? The one that had a bunch of systems of various origins and age set-up at all times for us to enjoy (unlimited time if we bought something)? The one that used to print out major release titles and older game trade-in values on newspaper and send it out free? Never heard of it
Oh how I wish EB-Games and Gamestop were still competitors... at least then they were more focused (EB carried more PC titles and G-Stop carried more console titles... although it did also depend on location).

amptor said:ya the one that had nice employees that weren't pompous jerks who got all angry when u brought up piracy and u could just go in there chill and talk about games and actually buy stuff because you felt welcome in the store. yeah funcoland. it was the best video game store ever.
And what exactly are the "New" features that are worthy of $10.00? I don't buy any add-ons, or downloadable content for any of my games. I buy them used, play them thoroughly, and save a chunk of money by not purchasing them new. Give me one good example what these dumb compainies could possibly offer to persuade me into buying their games brand new? You mentiion that this is a current issue, but could you link to it? There's no reason to buy new games, and even LameStop's exclusive bullshit can be achieved via other methods. The game industry's future is going to rely upon great games, and nothing else. I hope, and expect a renaissaince of sorts, where artist's and quality games dominate the market, and make all the money-hungry shovelware adopters realize that there isn't a demand for crap. I don't demand crap, I hope you don't either, so hopefully we'll see companies compete for our dollars with quality games.HeatMan Advance said:dsfanatic5 said:Sometimes I think I'm like everyone else, but then I'm proved wrong. They already started attacking used game sales. EA, UbiSoft and others are making buyers of used games pay an extra $10 for the additional features new game customers get. Just google "Used games EA or Ubisoft". It was in the news for weeks and there are still more companies adopting the program.

same here actually. the video games is an addiction that should be thwarted by anti piracy hardware. and don't take this reply as satire.
also you guys realize that one big factor in video game piracy that stands the test of time and also gives the slap on the wrist is:
fact: most piracy scene groups are run by minors and hence less reprecussions usually are given. and in this also is more interest in obtaining and releasing games. I remember Razor 1911 was mostly 15 year olds back in the 1990s. I was blown away when I found that out.
