After reading through all of the pages of this thread, I have one question.

Is there anyone that can re-boot back to the Wii Menu when running Triiforce after they run any non-wiiware titles?

If there is, are any of those running Triiforce with a USB drive?

I have everything running smoothly with the exception of being able to exit a VC game once I start it.

Most every VC game I'm tried runs, but I have to un-plug the wii to reset.
I've tried the "Press 2 on save and make sure it's set to re-boot to the wii menu", but no go, just a black screen on every game exit.

Also when running wiiware, I can exit the games, but only by pressing Home then selecting Reset, which reboots the entire wii, not just the game like it normally does.
Selecting “Return to Menu” just hangs on a black screen.

No matter what though, Triiforce is a huge step in the right direction.

As a follow-up to the black-screen on exit after running any VC game, I just noticed something.
(Maybe it will help figure out the issue, maybe not...)

My external USB drive has an activity LED on the front.

While playing any of the VC games, the light goes off after loading.
When I try to exit any of the VC's, the light comes on and flashes (drive is running, I can hear the heads moving).

After about 10-15 minutes, very, very faintly on my monitor I can make out the words:

"The system files are corrupted, Please refer to the Wii operations manual for help troubleshooting"

Of course there's nothing wrong with my wii, it re-boots and runs fine after an un-plug.

So uh.. is there a site dedicated to this? Maybe one that has an image database and a compatibility list? If not, there totally should be.

However I tried Pokemon Rumble PAL and it also works perfectly with triiforce mrc (running through apploader). So I don't know what can be happening on your console

@marc_max (or anyone else who knows about wii programming)

I know this has been asked about a few times before but is there a reason why Triiforce has not been modified to be able to read/write it's cfg file to the USB hard drive?

It doesn't seem that difficult but, not being a programmer, I would not know if there are difficulties that prevent that.

I have had a look through the source and, by removing "fat:" from the lines that refer to reading info, Triiforce is happily reading the covers and cfg file from my usb drive. The problem for me, not really knowing how to program for the Wii, is that I do not know the commands to get it to WRITE the cfg file to USB drive. I can see that the line containing "Fat_Savefile" (or something like that) would be the item of interest, but have no idea what this command would be substituted with.

If the USB auto-loader version were to be modified to allow this there would be no requirement for an SD card at all. Or maybe someone can point me at a tutorial for Wii programming (preferably something that gives a clue regarding saving files to USB HDD and I'll have a go myself

Just thought it would be a nice improvement (better yet an option to choose SD / USB)

Best way should be to use NAND functions to read/write from USB (while using USB NAND). And that would also add the cover loading from USB that some people ask.
Unfortunately, I can't work on triiforce mrc now. So I ask you to be patient

I've read through this thread and the original TriiForce thread, but could I possibly get confirmation on the following:

I plan to use an Antec MX-1 enclosure, turned on 24/7, with a brand new 2TB Western Digital HDD (possibly the new WD20EARS depending on whether the alignment will work, which I will address in a different thread).

I intend to have two partitions: a 1TB NTFS partition storing full-size Wii ISOs to be read by USB Loader GX / Configurable USB Loader; and a 1TB FAT32 partition storing all other ISOs and ROMs, including VC and WiiWare games, and also an emulated NAND.

As I understand it, with this setup, it would not have originally been possible with TriiForce or TriiForce MRC to also emulate my NAND on the USB because it would have been the same source as the games, and I would have had to use a 2GB regular SD card to store the emulated NAND (or vice-versa: stored the games source on the SD and stored the emulated NAND on the USB).

However, am I right in saying that this restriction is no longer the case with TriiForce or TriiForce MRC and I can use (up to) a 32GB SDHC whose only Trii-related function (as Tristar points out) will be to store the configuration file?

Thanks for your time and Happy New Year,

Nick
