Ok, so I've been pulling my hair for the longest time over this one. There's seriously no telling how many countless hours I've spent attempting to figure out a solution to no avail. I've searched the far ends of the Internet for an answer, and while I've found similar people with the same issue, they never actually seemed to address a solution. That's why I've come here, because I know if anyone can pull through for me it's one of you gurus at good ol' GBAtemp.

Here's the deal: As long as my Wii has been softmodded (Bannerbomb/hackmii) since 4.0, I've been experiencing an issue with Wad Manager (regardless of version- I tried them all) where certain Wiiware titles will linger forever at "installing content #X" with no errors of the sort, only until I attempt to turn off the system's power is when I get a code dump. I've literally let Wad Manager sit for hours while it remained stuck on that certain content piece, only to see if there would be any progress. Since then, I carelessly upgraded to an official sysmenu 4.2, and reinstalled all HBC/backup loaders. Still, I'm experiencing the same issues installing those Wiiware wads which were never fixed to begin with.

Any help would be appreciated more than you can believe.

Could anyone help me, I just upgraded to the latest 4.2 software for wii for the Embassador program, and now my Bootmii has dissapeared and everything in my Homebrew Channel wont boot. Is there a solution to the problem? Tried installing rev14 again but it desyncs my remote so I cant install it.
let me guess...mmm...you have update through official means? 4.2 firmware's purpose is to disable all homebrew in your wii...nothing more. anyways you had updated already so might as well re-hack your wii using this guide: http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ha.../trucha-bug-4-2
Cheers, worked like a charm!
yeah! good for you man. have fun.

Ok extreme noob here,

I have a cyclowiz mod chip for a d2b with cut legs installed on my wii. It's been fine with every game I've attempted to run up until the new Mario. Everywhere I read says that I need to use a USB loader like NeoGamma to play the new mario. My friend installed the homebrew channel for me a long time ago and I haven't really used it or updated or it anything. Here is my situation: Downloaded new mario and updated to 4.2. I have the homebrew channel working just fine and WadManager 1.4. I am unable to install the USB Loader GX WAD though. I am going to attempt to install NeoGamma R8 beta 7 right after righting this post.

I'm wondering where I need to start with in the "Modify any Wii 4.2& below, aka the simplistic mod" guide. With the Homebrew channel already installed is it OK if I start from the very beginning of the guide and just start with step one? Will it install an additional HBC? Will it mess up my mod? Is it possible to jump ahead or would this be a good idea to do? I want to learn how to do all this stuff now since my buddy was the one who originally installed it. I am just where to begin so that I don't mess up my wii any further. Games such as Wii Sports Resort and stuff like that all work just fine, I just can't play the new Mario. I figure this is a good time to get the USB channel working so I don't have to worry about burning games anymore.

Also, when I download the NeoGamma R8 files I get a boot.dol and a meta.xml. I thought I would be getting a WAD file but I'm not. Why is this? What is the difference between NeoGamma and USB Loader GX?

Thanks for the help,
Greg

if your wii is always connected to the internet, every time you run HBC it will ask for an update. but if not, then you might as well start from the installation of the HBC using the new hackmii installler. install also the new bootmii. HBC latest is at 1.0.6 and bootmii at beta 4. you could use xzxero's guide that you had stated already or visit this. http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ha...uide/the-basics

so you have updated to 4.2 by official means? then you have stub ios then if you did so. next that you have to do is do this http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/ha.../trucha-bug-4-2 if you are successful then you have completed removing all the stub ios and reinstalled cios249 rev 14/15; patched ios70 of your 4.2 system menu. then you may install preloader if you want to for extra brick protection and for system menu hacks. installing preloader is up to you.

then you could go next to the loaders...like you said neogamma could run nsmb off the disc channel with a mod chip. use neogamma r8 beta 7. you will not get a wad but a boot.dol of the app. place it on your sd card eg.: sd://apps/neogamma/boot.dol. you will run this through HBC. if you found a custom channel for neogamma or made a custom channel for it using wadder and the like, the .wad that you are saying, then you could install it as a channel using wad manager at the latest 1.5.

neogamma and usb loader gx are both usb and disc loaders. you can find and read more info about them in here http://sites.google.com/site/completesg/backup-launchers

hope this helps. goodluck.

Is it possible to burn multiple wbfs files to DVD and load them from that disc using a Loader?
yes. use wiiscrubber. you can load it through a loader called multiboot which is included also in the package of wiiscrubber. i lost my link where you can have it. just search or google for it...it is just floating around.

My Wii is 3.2E.
I installed the cIOS38_r14 installer from Waninkoko.
I used SoftMii so I installed a bunch of things I'm not quite sure now. (Glady I didn't erase them from SD, so all the random file [at least for me they are random] are still there.)

First of all, lately, I've been trying to play Tales of Symphonia Dawn of the New World again but now when I start it all stays black and white. I though it must because I was using now an old TV that didn't support NTSC but went to use load Excite Bots and it worked like a charm.
So I wanted advice as to how make it work with colors, because I have no idea what I did yo blew it up.

Second, I think I've been installing and desinstalling to many stuff on my Wii. Glady, it still works like a charm, but it's getting outdated and I'm afraid that if I install new stuff I may end up screwing things up.
So my question is, is there a way to make a fresh reinstall of everything that is softmodded? I heard that especialy the cIOSCORP is a hard thing to get out. >.

Hello, and sorry if this has been asked before, but these are the questions:

- If i softmod a WII, will I beable to play Original Wii/GC games from NTSC/J and/or NTSC/U on my PAL system? (as for backups I don't think region matters right?)
- Will I need to downgrade to 4.1E (as it says something about region)?

if not:

- What will I need to play original Wii/GC games from these regions?

Currently running still on 4.0E with just HBC, DVDx, and Bootmii as BOOT2 installed, and made a NAND backup, just looking for these answers before I go update to 4.2E and/or 4.1E.

Looking forward to hearing from you all, thanks in advance for the time.

YES. Just load them through GeckoOS, you don't even need a softmod.

Thank you for the fast reply,

I was under the impression the Wii like PS2, PSX, Xbox(360) were are all region based, hence why I didn't buy any games from the US and JP yet.

I am repeating my question from 4 or 5 pages ago. How do you get Beatles- Rock Band (NTSC) to work?
Details as to what you tried and what doesn't work would help. Are you trying with a disc backup launcher or USB loaders? Can it load or are instruments not syncing? I don't have instruments yet but it loads with Neogamma r7 Rev14. I've read it works with 222 38 merged with 37. I've tried this with Softchip R100 but couldn't get it to load though.

not really hard to remove. you just have to know the tools that you need. http://gbatemp.net/index.php?showtopic=131...ncorp&st=45. do not delete any ios in your wii...always a reminder. use Det1re´s Uncorp or the cioscorp uninstaller by da_letter_a. but as far as i know you have to re-apply trucha and ES_Identify patches to IOS36.
smile.gif

Can you redirect me to some guide to do that trucha and ES_Identify? Because I really don't remember doing any of those.
Damn SoftMii, why did I followed it back then?! >.<

I really want to get my Wii update, but I'm not quite sure what to follow since all the guides are for non-modded Wii. And because of that I'm afraid of doing it since something might work wrong with the things I already have "inside" its.

I haven't really kept up with wii hacking so I'm a little lost. Like everyone else, trying to get mario to work.

How do I run Dop-IOS? Do I need to load it onto an SD card? Does the wii need to be softmodded to run programs from the SD?

I'm using a v1 wiikey

Hi,
Did the twilight hack and installed the homebrew channel ages ago. (say >a year)
Since then my wii has been updated with both Animal Crossing:City Folk + Wii Sports Resort I believe.

I think it's on 4.1 at the moment, the homebrew channel is still there anyway (last update wasn't one that would wipe the channel/modifications)

I'm interested in
a) Updating it to the latest firmware for the wii shop channel.
b) Installing a usb backup loader/mod (i believe this is what i need?)

Read so many conflicting information out there...what exactly should i do (or need) in order to acheive both the above?

My Wii is a pal, launch day model if that makes any difference.

Thanks

Bumping my question, anyone wanna help?

Thanks

i just did the softmod any wii version thread, and everything seems to work great on that end, however, it now seems that when i load my retail game disk in the official disk channel, more than half the time, the wii says the disk is unreadable? nothing wrong with disk. its not scratched and works fine on my girlfriends non modded wii.

Just did xzxero's guide and now up to 4.2U with cIOS38 rev 14. Do I necessarily need to downgrade back to 4.1 or is where I'm at good for right now?
No, not necessarily. I would just stay with 4.2. Note what the guide says about downgrading:

"For those looking on how to get back to 4.1 for whatever reason, mainly region free hacks, look here."
