Thanks to whomever got this working, the game is fun so far. Unfortunately I suck at it (I sucked at the original super mario as well). Is there a walkthrough guide yet? 3 questions:

1. On level 1 I got a message saying that the bad guy took that mushroom chick and she is hidden in question mark boxes and I need to go back and save her. I can find her, do I need to get her to follow me or what? Or do I just need to release her and move on?

2. I'm in the level 1-castle. At the top is the big bad guy. How do you kill him? I jump on him and he turns into the moving shell then he comes back. ????

3. Are the only save options the quick save?

If there is a softmod message, could somebody PM me that method so I can play. I have the alt dol and the release from Wiis*s. Am I going to have to find another copy or will this one do?

Hey. I don't get it to work either.

I have a wiikey 1.9s und ran safe 4.2 updater awhile ago. (never used anything but geckoOS)

For NSMB I used the TBR and then this cios rev14 thing and it still doesn't work, neither does the fixed nor the unfixed iso (tried neogamma, geckoos, with/without cheat etc.).
"Install IOS53 and your System IOS (3.2-IOS30, 4.0/4.1= IOS60, 4.2=IOS70) and patch them with the Trucha Patch. Use DOP-IOS for this, and play the fixed ISO."
HAVE YOU DONE THIS!? FFS.

well, no, but thanks

Which IOS should I use to install other IOSs (first IOS you have to choose)? Does it matter which one?

Help, I'm trying to do this step but when DOP-IOS tries to download/install the IOS it errors out with "HASH BAD" and returns to the Homebrew Channel, WTF ?

ps: my internet connection works fine in HBC

That should work, I'd still use DOP-IOS but.

Correct, if your on 3.2, you shouldn't have to patch your system menu IOS, but yes you still need to patch IOS53.

Thanks for the answer.

Because it's only the ios53 that needs to be patched I'll try the "offline"method just to see if it works.
And what about the other not vital IOSes like IOS38 and IOS55: can I TBR them or not?

You can if you want. Like you said, they are not vital. It won't improve running the game.

IOS30 v2816 is a stub, so install v2576.

...I think.

I don't know if it's been mentioned before but I just came up with a simple solution for those who havent got an usbdrive/stick like me.
What I did was to install neogamma r8beta as a channel, then formatting my SDcard to WBFS, transferred NSMB to the SDcard.
Launced the game from the SDcard with neogamma and it works flawlessly. Almost done with world 2 and no freezes whatsoever.

woah. good idea man. I've been trying for weeks to get this game working. If only someone would've thought of this solution sooner. Formatting your sdcard to wbfs.. man. That should be stickied or something. Way to think outside the box.

I wanna try that because I cannot launch some USA games from the disc channel on my 3.2 EUR with modchip YAOSM and preloader 0.28: I have problems with MadWorld and Muramasa getting the error screen.
I tried also changing to PAL with Generic Wii Patcher but got stuck the same so maybe TRBing these IOSes (if i remember well madworld needs ios53,55) could help me launching the games from disc channel (i played the games, and finished, from geckoos and other launchers but I really wanna try a way to boot them from DC

Well, I'm sorry but chances are that will get your other games to load.

You don't need to trucha IOS55/53 for those games, you just need clean ones installed. Just IOS53 for NSMBW.

I thought the same but was hoping to find a way to boot them from DC.
Thanks for your confirmation.

To boot trucha signed games from the disc channel you need the IOS used by the system menu to have the trucha bug.
In your case, that means that your IOS30 needs to have the trucha bug.

Use DOP-Ios Mod to install a trucha-enabled version of IOS30 and it should work for you. If it doesn't, you can always install a clean version of it using DOP-Ios Mod, or even restore a bootmii backup.

The IOS used by the game also needs the trucha bug enabled if you are starting from the disc channel. In the case of NSMB it is IOS53, but that changes from game to game. In the case of MadWorld it is also IOS53.

I guys I was having problems getting this to work from the system menu.

My configuration is:

1. WiiKey-1 1.9s
2. Sys Menu 4.2E used (Waninoko Updater to get it there)

What I did to get it going from the System Menu was very similar to wait PainToad recommends:
1. Use a patched.iso DVD
2. Used DOP-IOS to patch/install IOS53 and IOS70 (used the CIOS IOS249 for the DOP-IOS install)
3. Re-install System Menu 4.2E using DOP-IOS

Note until I did Step 3 I kept getting the System Files on the WII were corrupt message whenever I put the NSMB Disc in. I believe this is a remnant of the way Waninoko did the update to 4.2E, DOP-IOS is better!

Works perfect now, patched disk runs fine from System Menu.

Hope it helps someone out there,
Fed.

So my IOS30 on my 3.2 wii is not trucha bugged by birth?

I don't know. If trucha-signed discs aren't showing up as bootable on your disc menu, then probably not.
It doesn't really matter, however, as DOP-Ios Mod can install trucha or non-trucha versions of that IOS for you as many times as you'd like. If you have a bootmii backup then just play around with it and you will get it fixed.

I have a 3.2 hard modded and stayed back on the 3.2 fw because of the trucha bug-ios: do I need to patch the same IOS30?
Can I do the same steps as above for the IOS53?

Thanks for your efforts guys

Okay. When PainToad said you shouldn't have to patch it, he said that because you have a hard mod/chip. This chip should load games, but it wont load all games. This is where you'll need to tucha sign IOS30.

And trucha signing IOS53 should/will get NSBMW up an running.

I can run trucha bugged disc from DC, it's just these TB discs that need other IOSes like ios53 to run.
I'll try installing the TBRed IOS53 and see what happens.

The fact is that having installed preloader 0.28 I read somewhere that it changes the address of system menu and can't find the new HBC so I didn't upgrade and didn't install bootmii.
Is it that right or can I upgrade with no problem with the hackmii installer?
Thanks again.
