why is that?
he was studying on the game when the game just came out
so maybe he could help you guys a little on the translation process

EDIT: noitora don't kill me

Note: We have been working on this game since wednesday when it was leaked. So i don't think it would be any different if we contacted him or not.

Edit: The problem we where having with some of the text is already fixed. As to the other part we will have it fixed soon too. I'm spending day and night devoting myself fully to this project.

alright

Well yeah, Darth made you an inserter, but if you still need to know how the text files are set up, here is it is:
mst:

File header:
uint magic stamp
uint count
loop for count:
uint pointer

Section header:
uint subcount
loop for subcount:
uint subpointer
uint length

dngc:

File Header:
uint magic stamp
uint count
loop for count:
uint pointer

Section header:
ushort length + 1
text
ushort padding (0x0000)
ushort sublength + 1
text
ushort padding (0x0000)

I'm currently working on a korean trans on this, so if you need any help, just ask

Put together an inserter... it currently supports DNGC (.bin), DCPB (.scripb), and DMST (.mst) files. Let me know if you run into any other types.

Download SagaTrans v0.1

thanks Darth this will really be helpful

Edit: There seems to be a problem. Darth i sent you a PM in crimson-nocturnal. Could you check it out if you have time.

We should have v0.1 (menu) Patch released later today or early tomorrow.

We've gotten someone to do editing, but we are still in need of a translator fluent in the Japanese language.

Check our website (linked to in first post) for v0.1 of our patch!

We really do still need a dedicated translator. DarthNemesis has been helping to translate some of the stuff, but he doesn't have the time to do all of it.

I have the entire dialogue between your father and then your mother at the beginning of the game translated. It's looking awesome.

What does the script look like? What percentage is dialogue and what is the length of the average conversation? I can translate everything else pretty quickly, but when it comes to dialogue there can be a lot of colloquialisms that throw a wrench in the works. It all depends on whether you want to do a good job, or just get something out there. (everyone wants to do a good job, but you don't always have the resources)

There is a small example from one of the spreadsheets.

Sometimes, lines will be repeated multiple times, occasionally with small alterations. This is because there are different races and genders you can choose from for your main character. For example, the dialogue under [1] has 6 different lines, 5 of them identical and 1 slightly different.

The translator is not expected to do a perfect job with the English version of the text. We have a editor with a college degree in literature and who has previously played SaGa 2. The translator simply must translate it to English and at least make it understandable for the editor.

If you go to our website you will find that it is not the same. Neo explains that after a certain point the game has a story of its own. If it was that tho it would be easy but it has more features and a new battle system using Threads of Destiny(Fate). You will see what it is when you play it.
