ok, i kinda get what you are asking now.

in all honesty, there is no need to stay at 3.2 anymore. 4.0 is just as hackable now. Plus you get the benefit of loading vc/wiiware from the sd card.

but before you start the process, install bootmii as boot 2 if possible, and do a nand backup. that way, if you fuck things up, you can restore your wii back to the way it is right now.

Just follow this guide, and you'll be fine. Just make sure you follow it EXACT.

4.0 has no bugs that will cause anything like that.

as far as cios, rev13a is the most compatible, but it has a small bug where you have to reboot the wii after each game played. not exactly a big deal, should be fixed when rev14 comes out.

and no ios file will magically make your wii play games better, lol. Don't install any unless you actually need it.

let me say that i warn all users to stay away from cioscorp. It caused me countless random bricks, and is in no way safe to use on 4.0, but it is safe on any firmware below.
thats very unfortunate but i have installed CIOSCORP dozens of times on multiples Wiis with no problem. Now with bootmii it should be completely safe to install cioscorp

Why I cant install IOS16 to a Wii 4.0? Because IOS16 is now a stub? Reinstall of patchmii overwrite the stubbed IOS254, right?
Or u mean I cant install anything into a stubbed location? If that the case, Nintendo should just stub IOS249. Most application will then have to be re-writed to allow loading from other IOS location.
you must remove the IOS16 stub first and then install the old hacked one. use anytitle deleter

So am I out of luck? There's no way to open it up and reflash it?
without preloader or Bootmii or a modchip unfortunately i think so

QUOTE(2yugimoto @ Jun 16 2009, 03:02 PM) is it okay to use wad manager 1.0 instead of 1.4 in this guide?
no because in the online guide you must use IOS35 unless you already have cios installed

from wiibrew: "If you plan on updating make sure to install the cIOS and DVDx before updating. "
so it seems like the thing to do is downgrade with IOS and cIOS-Downgrader. then install usb 2.0 and then update

TroyTheZombie: thanks for helping out with support

Just a question before I use this guide to upgrade my wii to 4.0.

I am currently on 3.3e official firmware with a wiikey2 modchip, homebrew channel and geckoOS installed and I am really only interested in installing the USBLoader.

I am not able to install BootMii as boot2 and I am planning to use the online version.

I am just wondering, in case something unexpected happens and the wii bricks during the update, will I be able to recover using preloader? If that's the case, I should install preloader before updating shouldn't I?

Thanks.

technically, yes. since with preloader you can access the HBC, there fore you can access wad manager, or cIOS downgrader. Meaning you can either use cios downgrader to go back to 3.2, or install a system menu wad.

I still suggest installing bootmii as an ios and doing a nand backup before doing anything.

also, after you do the update, the old preloader won't be there anymore, you'll have to install preloader.29.

you do the online steps... which are 1-7

the offline guide goes up to 15 you dont have to use both

I need this wonderful forums help. I supplied this tutorial and files to my friend.
He said everything was done as the tutorial said to.
He is upgraded to 4.0, but for some reason, I dont know what the hell he did.
His Wii is all in Japanese.

Any ideas what he did, and mainly how I can fix it.
Thank you in advance....
