The Ring-con has a special mode where you can put in a joy-con and regardless of if your game is running, you can squeeze it up to 500 times for rewards in Ring Fit.

Where is this data stored? In the joy-con? In the ring-con itself? Wirelessly transmitted to the Switch?

And is it somehow possible to modify that data? Does any other game even use this kind of feature?

Funny! Never heard of that before.

Although the RingCon has a microcontroller and the Joycon also have it, I have never heard that the both of them store statistics inside them.
All the information they give comes directly from the buttons/sticks and battery management ic.

So I presume that this is done by the Switch itself.

But this mode still works and keeps track of reps even when the tablet is fully turned off or out of range, right? Then the counter must be stored somewhere in either the ring-con or the joy-con.
