I’ll start by saying that my math and thinking might be off but I’m certain the concept itself is solid but probably more involved.
My thought is that if we down scale or upscale the internal resolution of NDS roms that they will look BAD at native output but excellent after the 3ds scales them up. I figure that if the 3ds scaling is taken into account that a rom can have every graphic downscaled or upscaled (halving or doubling resolution) so they are half or double the 3ds resolution.
Maybe that math isn’t quite what’s needed but what I hope someone is willing to test by changing just a single graphic on a DS game they’ve already modded and see if they can make that single thing look good on 3ds.
I’m willing to learn how to do it all and I think it would be a cool homeschool project for my kids too. I’m just hoping someone can provide a proof of concept so I’m not just chasing nothing.
