The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom announced, features playable Zelda

The Legend of Zelda is getting a new entry, in the form of Echoes of Wisdom. Styled in the same way as 2019's The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, it's an isometric 2D Zelda game, featuring Princess Zelda herself as the playable character. Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma wanted to try a new gameplay style for this title, which has players use "echoes" to fight and solve puzzles instead of Link's typical equipment. Zelda can take items and create echoes of them, like tables, beds, or other items, to help you climb and traverse the world. You can also create echoes of enemies, to make them fight on your behalf.

The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom will release on September 26.

I was hoping for Oracle remakes, but I'm okay with this as a consolation price.

This should called The Legend of Link
Fully agreed, we should start a petition to have Nintendo change it before release. Those cowards can't keep getting away with leaving these jokes on the table.

It's called The Legend of Zelda, so why, WHY they're making Zelda playable just now?
Wdym? Zelda been the main playable character since the OG LoZ on the NES :ha:

you wouldn't think they could ruin 3 zelda games in a row...but there it is
What were the two previous ones, Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom? I've been considering a Switch for ages, but I'm thinking I'll skip those two games, since I like the Zelda formula over a Zelda-themed open world experience.

The trailer does make the game look decent. If it uses the dungeon-item formula, I'm down.

how'd you guess?

it won't from what i can see you have one item: the wand and you use it to copy and paste shit to solve puzzles or conjure minions to fight for you. basically they turned zelda into a puzzle game. PASS

Yeah. They always show all the game and weapons in the first trailer.

I hate how ALBW was only swords and painting on walls. No other tools/weapons at all.

And Link in BOTW only used bows and the only enemy was a guardian.

I had myself a big brain moment.

I couldn't tell from the trailer, but I was hoping for a design closer to Link's Awakening, since the game is recycling the remake's engine and art style. I'll still keep an eye on it.

Looks great and didn't cost $300,000,000 to make.

Do games need to be 4K, RTX, latest cutting edge tech? Plenty of games shown at this direct that are simple. You don't need more.
Agreed. I appreciate that Nintendo pushes gameplay instead of expensive story games that you breeze right through.

I was hoping to see the Oracle games remade using the same engine/style but this doesn't look bad either!
I think Nintendo's sitting on those until they can sprinkle them between bigger releases.

This looks excellent. Something new that doesn't just build off of a previous game or anything. I kept trying to figure out what Hyrule (period in time, I guess) EoW is based on but can't say for sure. Love the art style as well.
