NGL that milky way set looks legit. Idk if it'd be possible but whenever you get/build that maybe send a pic my way through PM?

Also, I want to note I've bought a couple sets from a lego knockoff that... surprisingly was better than I thought.
I think the knockoffs are really upping their game and giving an alternative to lego.
If I do get it I will! Not sure yet--I don't really have a good place to put it. But it would be so much fun to put together...
And yeah, I'm a big fan of knockoff Legos too. The really teeny tiny ones that take a week to build the model? Sign me up. A fraction of the cost for way more time spent building!

I have so many model kits atm of like Gundams and even a Megaman X one but I havent done crap because like bruh I have nowhere to put em hah...

I think it was megablocks that I got? The one that has the license for Pokemon stuff. That one is pretty freaking tight. Better than Legos if you ask me!

Standard Lego pricing is a little under 10 cents per brick for most sets, so out of the $300 price tag, $50 is Nintendo's tax. Fuckers.

And even $250 would be too much for a display piece.

Shame about the minifigs, they look nice.

I would have loved to see a series of Zelda playsets, and maybe with a large enough collection of locales and events and characters, the Deku tree could be a fitting centerpiece.

But on its own it's a $300 dust collector.

Yep. The set looks far too simple for the price tag, and I did think that $300 for 2500 pieces was overpriced (although that's to be expected with big brand sets like this one).
The minifigures do look nice, even though three out of the four of them are the same character. Minifigs are always a highlight of the set for me.

Do the Chinese knockoff sets ever copy the special minifigs, or not so much?
So... yes and no. No, in that the sets I'm referring to generally don't include minifigures (the blocks, and the entire set for that matter, are much to small for compatibility). However, there is definitely a market for copycat/custom minifigures. Here's an overpriced example of some Zelda minifigures. I can't speak for their quality but I've generally heard good things. Probably similar build quality.

Remember Lego's patent expired. They used to be able to make money from exclusivity. Now anyone (in China) can make Lego-compatible blocks and sell them legally. So Lego's business model has shifted to branding - leveraging the IP of a partner to sell each branded set for a premium. The pricing follows Lego's perceived value/willingness to pay of the partner IP.

Take this as a compliment Nintendo fans: Lego thinks you're loaded!

Thanks, they look pretty good tbh. I was wondering like for this deku tree set, are they likely to clone the whole set, figures and all, based on whether they've done so with comparable sets in the past.

They are certain to clone the figures too, but the ones that come with the clone set might not look that great because the manufacturers that do the really good minifigs aren't the same ones that make the clone sets, and you're better off getting the minis separately.
The above Mercari link says "This item is no longer for sale" so I can't be 100% sure but all the minis in the "similar items" list cost $1 apiece elsewhere. Beware the lazy dropship resellers.

And now, Ganon.
