Wii U boots but gives black screen on tv (hdmi, i get audio, and its just a black screen, no "no input" screen on the tv)

Try another HDMI cable first, then another TV/display to troubleshoot if its cable/TV related or console related.

If you give it a minute to boot, then press the power button short (1 sec) does it turn off again a few seconds later or do you have to force it off by holding the power button for 4 sec
