Just installed version 0.1.6. Both enable data Management & Uninstall region mod options are unaccesible. This means my sysnad is already damaged or there is another setting thet need to be enabled?

Did you switch it to SysNAND mode? Those apply to SDNAND or SysNAND depending on the mode NTM is in

If it's in SysNAND mode then they should only be available if you don't have Data Management or the region mod respectively, but if you do they should work...

Version 0.1.7 - Unlaunch required

Please see the wiki for information on how to use NTM.

What's new?

  • Unlaunch is now required to use NTM
    • There have been two bricks because of NTM and I no longer feel comfortable recommending this tool without Unlaunch
    • There are also now zero downsides to Unlaunch thanks to TWiLight Menu++'s new launcher patches that keep all the good patches while also keeping the splash screen and menu sounds
    • I have pulled all previous releases, due to git history you can still build them if you need but please, for the love of all things good, do not distribute them under any circumstances

:download: As usual, the download is on GitHub or Universal-DB

EDIT: This release was hotfixed to allow fixing the FAT copy mismatch without Unlaunch installed, since that's required to install Unlaunch. I usually avoid hotfixes but I figured this should really have just been part of v0.1.7.

I feel really terrible about this. It almost makes me regret making NTM, but I know the alternatives are still worse. Hopefully at least this helps.

I don't see the point of not having Unlaunch installed, with all the benefits it has.. i really don't understand how anyone would start tinkering with homebrew software (like in this case NTM), without a tool that could prevent, and fix in a case of a brick, that was a result of said tinkering in the first place.
So no, i wouldn't feel terrible about it if i were you. And of course thank you for your all your work & contributions in the DS scene! :yaynds:

Yeah, the only reason I didn't require Unlaunch in the first place is that with the old launcher patches there was a legitimate downside of no splash/sound if you like that, but especially with the new patch I would recommend every single DSi user to have it, doubly so if you intend to install things to NAND.

I agree with you. I felt like a fool when I used this tool without any safety's. Now I'm having unlaunch double checked when installing games

Yes. If you have Unlaunch installed, you can set it to boot directly to TWilightmenu, with or without holding a button on boot.

Fyi, you can play the majority of DSiWare games with TWilightMenu without the need of installing them. But if you want, i highly recommend setting up sdnand (with Hiyacfw), so you can install them there instead of sysnand.

Follow the guide here if you're just starting, and want to mod your system.

Yeah, just install BOOT.NDS with NTM, note hiyaCFW is recommended for safety but not required.

To install Dsiware. I just need the nds file?
Yeah, with TWiLight you don't even need to 'install' per se, just put them on your SD. With NTM to install to the actual DSi Menu the NDS is all that's needed, though you can get a 'more legit' install by providing a TMD file as well.

Version 0.2.0 - Hopefully safe

Please see the wiki for information on how to use NTM.

This version fixes a critical bug in the free space calculation that I'm near certain is responsible for both bricks NTM has caused, I feel absolutely awful about missing this. Typo'd and missed one "+" causing the app size calculation to be completely broken and somehow didn't notice in my testing.

If you have NTM please update immediately and delete any old versions, Unlaunch is still required in this release however if we can go a long while with zero reports of issues I *MIGHT* re-enable non-Unlaunch support in release builds.

:download: As usual, the download is on GitHub or Universal-DB

Hi there. I'm completely new to DSi homebrew...
Being able to install DSiWare to the system NAND is really fantastic!

Just a small annoyance that I would like to hear your opinion on:

If I install a Japanese DSiWare on a EUR DSi system, is it normal for it not to show up in the System Settings - Data Management? I have tried it with two ROMs so far. The DSiWare is displayed normally in the menu and can be executed just fine, but it does not appear in Data Management.
In addition, the software is gift-wrapped again every time after I open Data Management.

I am not interested in how I can uninstall the software, I know that this is also possible via the NTM. I would just like everything to behave as "stock" as possible, if at all possible.

What would be necessary for the DSi to also list the Japanese DSiWare in Data Management?
Additional region mods beyond what Unlaunch includes?
Certain patches in the ROM to make it region-free? (I have found instructions for this for the 3DS, but not for the DSi)
Or is it simply not possible to achieve the desired result?

Thanks!

I remember there being a method to make DSi roms region free as described here:

Basically, just change 0x1B to FF FF FF FF. That'll make the games show up in Data Management and prevent it from wrapping up in a present every time you go to Data Management. Perhaps it's a good idea to add a notify to NTM asking to change the region of the rom if it detects the rom region doesn't match your console's region.

Really? That was super simple and worked perfectly. Thanks a ton!

Huh, seems to be region flags, I should probably add an option to patch that into NTM, I didn't realize that was an issue...

I tried installing a Mario Clock Europe rom on my DSi that's also a Europe console and when I return to the menu the game dosent show up. I made sure the TMD and NDS files matched their regions so idk what the problem could be
