PS3 beeps 3 times and restarts sometimes after exiting game or app using the PS button

Sometimes, the PS3 beeps thrice and restarts after exiting a game or app after holding the PS button and clicking "Yes" with an USB device connected to my console.

Occasionally, PS3s which had never been hacked also had this problem (like mine and a friend of mine's) so is it normal behavior and the console isn't broken?

I never had YLOD and it did that right after turning it on. Maybe it's normal behavior, but if so, it's surreal.

Could be a Problem with the PSU and it's a good idea to swap it out.

Pretty sure you'll find some log files on the PS3's HDD that will let you know why it did that. Not sure where but it should contain a record of what crashed and an error code or codes that you can look up to get more relevant information.

I find it odd that I'm having this issue in different PS3s, especially in new ones.

That can be ...... especially with older models such problems can arise if you don't service them occasionally. With newer models without NEC/TOKIN it could also be a Mosfet/Resistor or even a PWM chip

That's rather improbable...... here and there there can of course also be a device that breaks down quickly - but those are rather rare coincidences.

Or are you referring to some kind of source that said many new devices had such effects?

My previous PS3 Slim had this problem right after being bought.

I just find it odd that so many users complain about this problem so now I'm not sure if it's normal behavior.

If these problems occurred before the jailbreak, it is very likely a hardware error.....it's best to just take a look at the log file as mentioned above.

Tales of vesperia eng patch have this problem sometimes when you exit games , rarely happen here

FFX and X2 remastered also have this problem sometimes when you don't hear any music in new games , load screen and settings screen , usually will restart after you exit from games , kinda rare here

Other than this games , I don't remember any other RPG games have this problem

It's just beep once thought for me before restart in xmb if my memory not wrong , cfw user here

This is normal behavior if too much memory is being used.

Where did you read that? I was told it might be because of a HDD or CPU/GPU issue. Anyway, why did Sony release a console in such a state?
