Any disadvantages on modding a PAL Wii U?

I've been wanting a Wii U for a long time and found a PAL Wii U in marketplace (the market from where I live is sort of mixed) which looks good and not beat up like most selections.
Before I go and try to buy this Wii U, is there something that I should know when modding a PAL Wii U? Are there any incompatibilities when compared to an NA model?

Thanks! Any advice on buying the ds game on a PAL WIi U? I have asian mastercards for payment but I don't if the eshop accept those.
I don't think PAL consoles accept credit cards at all any more, because of EU GDPR laws. You'll need a way to buy Nintendo eShop credit (like those gift cards you can find in stores) which you can then redeem on the console. This might be difficult depending on your region--you might need to get somebody you trust online to buy a region-appropriate card (e.g. set your Wii U region to United Kingdom and ask somebody from the UK to buy you a card) if they're not available locally. eShop cards for the 3DS, Wii U and Switch are interchangeable, so it's still pretty easy to get "Wii U credit" in 2021.

A big note though is that the Nintendo DS Virtual Console game Dr. Kawashima's Brain Training: How Old Is Your Brain? was made available completely free in several (all?) PAL regions for a brief period. You should check the eShop to see if you're already entitled to a free copy of Brain Training.

In my experience so far, only regarding some homebrew mods that have regional differences, which you should take into account. (repositories, etc.)
I'm also a bit unsure still about video output (interlaced vs progressive), should you have interest in outputting in formats other than HD. (for CRT gaming, etc.)

You can still buy eShop credit for Wii U in EU countries in the website https://ec.nintendo.com/my/balance_add, should you want to invest in any eShop titles.

I personally really don't like CRTs in general, (not just because the acronym also stands for something evil - I like Black Mages :P) so I'm not the man to ask for a comparison, but according to CRT enthusiasts, the Wii U isn't great at displaying to them. The Wii is often considered a retro holy grail to CRT lovers.

No disadvantages for modding, only good stuff. ^_^
