New Game+ Expo 2021 - roundup

New Game+ Expo is here again for another year in a row, bringing us all sorts of localization news that we can expect to see for Japanese games headed westward. There's plenty to see in this live stream, so be sure to tune in, or keep an eye on this thread to see all the highlights.

The show kicks off with a few trailers. We see Volta-X, already available.

You solve puzzles and it's in an adventure game format. July 6, 2021.

A very colorful anime game is being shown next. It's Mary Skelter: Finale. PS4/NS, fall 2021.

Death End reQuest hits the Switch on April 27th. Will get a physical release thanks to Limited Run Games.

There is absolutely zero English in the trailer for this next game. What is it? Looks very anime. Lots of cute anime boys. Probably an otome visual novel again. So many anime boys. Fall 2021 even though it featured zero translation. Switch exclusive. Dairoku: Ayakashimori.

I actually bought GNOSIA earlier today. It looks interesting - apparently each playthrough is about 15 minutes long. If anyone's interested, I'll post something about it after spending time with it.

Pretty weak overall. Most of these things were just locked-in release dates for things we knew were already headed to the west this year. Some of which were already even known.

Phantom Brave/that Prinny Presents Collection is pretty cool, though.

Disgaea 6 is still Switch exclusive even though there’s a PS4 version in Japan ugh

That being said, SOUL NOMAD IS COMING BACK WOO. Kinda weird this collection is Switch exclusive as well. Soul Nomad has been PS2 exclusive since it was released but alas I’ll still bite the bullet so I can actually go back and finish the game this time.

I'm hyped that more people will be playing The Silver Case and T25W - don't sleep on these games, especially if you're already familiar with Killer7 or No More Heroes. The collector's edition looks nice too.

Glad to see an update on Gunvolt, even if it's that it's getting delayed? to 2022. Man, I've been waiting far too long for this game! xD I guess I should be glad they're taking their time to refine it properly, I heard they were having a hard time designing the new gameplay mechanics.

@AncientBoi, Yeah, believe you can do PSP games as well. But a Pi5 is much powerful in comparison.

Not sure about other models of Pi4 but the Pi 4 B with 8GBs OCed to 2Ghz handles PSP really great except like 1 game I found and it is playable it just looks bad lol Motor Storm Arctic something or other.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Other games I can have turned up to like 2X and all kinds of enhancements, Motorstorm hmmm nope 1X and no enhancements lol

I will admit that one does seem more interesting than the usual Ambernic ones, and I already liked those.

    I dread the price point.

  • Veho @ Veho:
This looks like one of their premium models, so... $150 :glare:

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    To me that seems reasonable.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I mean since basically all the games are errmmm free lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean yeah sure but the specs are the same as a $50 model, it's just those pesky "quality of life" things driving up the price, like an actually working speaker, or buttons that don't melt, and stuff like that.

  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think all in my Pi 4 was well north of 200 bucks 150ish for the Pi 4 the case the fancy cooler, then like 70 for the 500GB MicroSD then like 70 for the Xbox controller. But honestly it's a nice set up I really enjoy and to me was worth every penny. (even bought more controllers for 2 or 4 player games.) hmmm have never played any 2 player games yet :(
  • Veho @ Veho:
Yeah that's what I hate about the RPi, it's supposedly $30 or something but it takes an additional $200 of accessories to actually turn it into a working something.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
yes that's the expensive part lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I mean sure it's flexible and stuff but so is uremum but it's fiddly.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah a lot of it I consider a hobby, using Batocera I am constantly adjusting the collection adding and removing stuff, scraping the artwork. Haven't even started on some music for the theme... Also way down the road I am considering attempting to do a WiiFlow knock off lol
  • Veho @ Veho:
I want everything served on a plate plz ktnx, "work" is too much work for me.
  • Veho @ Veho:
Hmm, with that in mind, maybe a complete out-the-box solution with all the games collected, pacthed and optimized for me would be worth $150
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
Yeah it's all choice and that's a good thing :)
