Hello! I have recently decided that, to improve the rate at which I actually get through the games, to stop playing Persona 2 (both IS and EP) on ePSXe and switch it over to my hacked 3DS, for portability! But how do I carry across my save files? I have the .mcr files ready, but I used a converter that installed it as, essentially, a VC game. I would like to continue from where I was since I had levelled up a decent amount and was a decent way into the story, so how could I carry across my save?

I used the PSX2PSP converter to convert the .bin to a .pbp

Thanks!
First thing I would do is to check if it works on retroarch on your PC with pcsx-rearmed. If it does then at least you know you won't have any problems. However I do seem to remember the Persona games specifically having issues with saving being mentioned in this thread or some other regarding ps1 on 3ds. You'd have to see for yourself if it works, since most stuff does work now.

As for what to do on the 3ds when you've made the save you basically gotta copy it into a folder on your SD card somewhere withing retroarch. I can't remembe what the folder the ps1 forwarder uses.

is it possible to play vib rbbon on this? because i know it's possible to load the game, but i can't get past the menus, when i select bronze, it goes to a screen that says "insert vib-ribbon disk". is there any way to get around this and play the game?

Thank you for this; it's the third Forwarder application I've downloaded from you and they all work great.

Have been trying this out with the Final Fantasy franchise and it'll probably make the case for me to get a larger Micro SD card than the 128GB I currently have.

He's right. The late October nightly build is superior. I've been using the November 16th nightly build with these steps for the definitive full speed experience. r/3dshacks has a guide for it as well. With those specific thread and async configs, it makes these forwarders outdated.

Still, unless you are prepared to do this yourself (the forwarder creator is open source actually), you'll just have to respect the dev's free time which he has stated earlier is very limited at this time.

Absolutely! I did not mean that in disrespect. I wanted to point out that there has indeed been updates to the PCSX Rearmed 3DS core. Most cores stay in limbo unedited but this one still has activity.

hm? just how is this October nightly build better? Does it run games that otherwise wouldn't work in the current build or runs some games even faster?

I thought about compiling myself newest pcsx rearmed for this forwarder but I ended up with environment set up and compiled "pcsx somethingsomething .a" file. And that ".a" extension is the biggest mystery for me. Do I have to convert it, unpack or something to et code.bin etc. files?

Yes! justinweiss added Threaded Rendering. Providing a bunch of options. So in Quick Menu(while ingame)/Options/
Set Threaded Rendering to Async
Enable Advance GPU UNAI/PCSX4All Settings (Close Content after this and reboot game)
Enable High-Res Downscaling
CD Access Method to Asynchronous then (needs restart)
After hearing this on Reddit, I played my games one last time before upgrading
Comparing Stable 1.9.0 to Nightly Nov 16th (These upgrades are Oct 23 btw)
Pepsiman runs perfectly. Before, audio lagged during the first ingame cutscene before and the song sometimes stretches during gameplay
Strider 2 was AWFUL before. 35-40fps with bad audio Now, it's 55-58fps with correct audio. Now, this means a lot more than other games because if you know Strider 2, YOU KNOW HOW LOUD HE IS EVERYTIME YOU ATTACK.
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, my god. I thought it was okay before but now it feels like im playing in fast forward. It's perfect
Rapid Reload lagged a lot on stable 1.9.0. Even being a 2D sprite shoot em up, the game felt slow but playable. Now it's a constant 50fps. (Playing a European copy)
justinweiss himself said this pretty much fixes Metal Gear Solid.

I second this, they really do need to update the build for this. I don't use Retroarch that often so I would rather just launch the game from the HOME menu and the nightly build seems to provide much better performance than before.

just to let you guys know. I'm working on the update, but as of now I'm not having luck updating my tools to compile it.
I'll also upload the source with my changes so anyone with enough knowledge can compile new cores. just in case anyone else want to take this project because I know I'm falling behind (I have a new work that doesn't leave me as much free time as I used to have).

EDIT: it's up now

When I said Stable 1.9.0 I'm referring to Retroarch in general. I don't use this forwarder, I'm just dropping in explaining why it should be updated instead of a vague "plz update". Which btw thank you, OP. Cheers!
Here are my sources:
Full Speed PSX finally here on New 3DS / New 2DS XL (Metal Gear Solid, Crash Bandicoot, Final Fantasy IX, Vagrant Story, Resident Evil 2, etc.)! : 3dshacks (reddit.com)
For context, he got this advice from a reliable source. And that's justinweiss himself
3DS Hacking Q&A General | „PS5 has no games” edition : 3dshacks (reddit.com)
Currently he is also bug reporting the Picodrive core for 32x games for Retroarch 3DS. Hopefully in the future that can work fullspeed.
