A collection of recommendations on what to get for your Wii!

Priiloader - allows you to change NAND controls and settings, make the Disc channel movable, regionfree everything, etc

WiiModLite - allows you to alter IOS, install WADs, and most importantly for PAL users, you can change the region to US/NTSC (Console Video Mode), which allows you to play NTSC WADs in 480p60 on your Wii! (I think it needs a specific IOS to run WADs, it should be 58 - need to install as WAD iirc); however *some* retail games might be forced into english language, so you need to change it back to PAL when needed. I also think any region Wii also needs the IOS 80 additionally installed to run WADs from the SD card you didnt purchase with the Wii you're playing on!

USB Loader GX - allows HDD/USB/SD loading of Wii games, cheats, a lot of visual improvement options (disabling deflicker, forcing progressive scan, etc)

Quake GX (best version) - This is the 0.08 version from Piko, most stable and has and good enough features, with which you can also save your game, *but* you have to always start a new game first when launching it at another time before loading the save, otherwise the game is in some kind of bots/multiplayer mode and is very broken (enemies models are suddenly replaced by an upgrade item model; when you go into the next level, it's the mp version of the map)

Duke Nukem 3D (best version) - This is the milestone revision, which has better pointer controls, has the lowest chance to crash, and least issues in the menus; I suggest to put the Mighty Foot on DPad Down instead of Up, the items to switch on Left/Right, and to use on Up. Also you might want to reduce the axis speed for movement and aiming slightly

Mario Kart Wii CTGP-R Mod

Nintendont Gamecube Launcher - enables progressive scan for 99% of PAL games, regionfree Gamecube games, and to have a more stable and higher framerate

Not64 & Wii64-Rice - 2 different N64 emulators, Not64 is mostly more stable and has more options, but doesnt run some games at all or very poorly; Zelda romhacks (Sands of Time, Escape from the Facility, etc), Spacestation Silicon Valley and Star Wars Shadows of the Empire run and work much better with Rice. For *many* games, I rather recommend the VC releases, XBox 360 / XBone remasters/ports or the PC decomps/recomps!

There is a small collection of Zelda 64 hacks as Wii WADs on archive.org, you will find it...

WiiStation - most up to date and compatible PSX/PS1 emulator

WiiXplorer SS - allows you to move, rename, delete files & folders, and edit *most* text files

I also highly recommend the VC injections and forwarders made by "Zorg" (Youtube, he puts a link to his website in a comment on each video) and saulfabreg (he is on gbatemp too), especially the N64 ones (gfx are fixed for Starfox 64 by Zorg), including Zelda 64 romhacks.

USB-Loader-GX and Dolphin can download cheat databases for almost any Wii game automatically! With that, you can improve your games drastically with some QoL stuff.

Attached are Metroid Prime Trilogy PAL codes to use with USB Loader GX, which reenable missing Beam Charge GFX in Prime 1 and to have infinite Beam ammo in Prime 2 without a button combination required (originally it needed that), but I also included a complete set in a text file!

Metroid Other M: There is a 3rd person missiles cheat code for PAL and US, it makes the game play much better. You can try Redux too though, but installing it is very complicated... one other cheat code I think is very fun, that would be the one to have instant speedbooster charge.

Zelda Skyward Sword: There are a bunch of QoL & graphic tweaks cheat codes and texture packs which make it better than even the Switch version in my opinion, especially if you can use an original Wiimote & Nunchuck.

Donkey Kong Country Returns: There is a cheat code that makes it possible to play with Classic & Gamecube controllers on original hardware, on Dolpin you rather don't need it, you can just put the motions on controller buttons anyway!

which reenable missing Beam Charge GFX in Prime 1

Did you test it?

What happens if the cannon move ? (that's why the charge GFX were disabled in first place)

Only the Ice Beam is a little glitched, that's why they disabled it for the Wii version back then (and it doesnt matter if you move the cannon or leave it mostly centered, it's buggy either way)
Someone on the MP PC Port / Modding Discord fixed it for Dolphin PrimeHack, but this doesn't work for original hardware

The GFX work perfectly fine for the other 4 Beams (I count the Phazon Beam too), just that the Phazon Beam GFX is a little bit further ahead, but it actually looks really cool this way :D

Quaz, I forgot to tell that my codes are only for the PAL version btw. sorry
I gonna make a thread where everything is included, US codes too

No problem, I have the PAL version. ^^

I tested the code, it works like a charm (and here we go again, I started a new run on Metroid Prime 1-2-3 XD). Those missing charge FX in Prime 1 were so a letdown for me. Now, it's perfect, thank you.

Actually, the Ice Beam charge is not even glitched with the code, it's just the "freeze" FX is only rendered on the rear part of the cannon. So it does not glitch, and the effects are there for ALL beams.

I wonder why Retro Studios didn't go with this solution, rather than removing all the Beam Charge FX in Prime 1.

I wish they didn't have cropped the cutscenes too in Prime 1 and 2, when playing in 16/9. This would have made MP Trilogy the definitive version.

(EDIT: oh, and not remove the original title screen and menu for each game, I really miss them -especially the musics-!
Well, MP1 & 2 GC versions and MP3 standlone are still ready to be boot anyway lol)

you can see it's partially clipping through the cannon

Ah, I answered on the other topic.^^

Actually, I don't have this clipping through the cannon. Though the ice is only rendered on the rear part. (i.e. it's exactly like on GC, except there's no ice in the front part of the cannon).

Try this out to keep the menu for each game: https://gbatemp.net/download/metroid-prime-trilogy-to-standalone-creator.35302/
