Mostly do to the US. Usually a passable meal whether I have been in cattle class, advanced cattle class (modern cattle class is fit for... 3 year olds maybe, I practically having to assume fetal position in such things and I am not amazingly tall so I will usually take the small bump, and also get an extra 23kg of luggage for my troubles -- sweeties going there, random stuff coming back) or business (got a free upgrade once, would never pay for it), first class is nothing particularly special either going by what others I know that splurged said (and their food tastes are usually in line with mine). Keeps me powered, keeps me loaded up with nutrients and does not feel the need to leave at speed from any of the various holes in my body afterwards.
That said I did once have what is probably the worst food experience ever. This was early 2000s on a cheapy line and vegetarian to anybody in the US (apparently including airlines) usually meant "what is that?", I had swapped seats with one and woke up to what looked like breakfast in front of me (while I hate being served in any capacity this was still appreciated). Glug. Soy milk tastes like shit at the best of times, and pressurised cabin did not make it any better. I am not sure why it was soy (vegetarians can still have cow milk after all) but it was, and then got put on the list of awful breakfast experiences, later joined the time I mistook tahini for honey and wanted a sandwich.

I flew Qatar airlines a few years ago and the food was pretty decent. It really depends on the airline. And maybe the flight as well.
