I'm having issues booting games with the EZ Flash Jr. on a genuine Game Boy Color. I'm using a pair of regular Energizer AA LR6 batteries, as the EZ Flash Jr. will not even boot to the menu using a pair of Energizer Recharge NiMH AA batteries. Using the regular batteries, I can select a game in the menu and load it, but cannot actually boot into a game. I am also using the latest firmware as of today. Is there anything else I can try?
With the NiMH AA batteries, I get an error that says "MicroSD card initialization failed," or something along those lines. When I use the regular AA batteries, I can load a game, but it goes to a blank screen and never finishes the boot process.

No, I did not see that thread. That sounds identical to the issue I'm facing, as my GBC was purchased around the system's launch period. That thread does, however, confirm that the cart needs a little more voltage than my NiMH batteries can supply.

Try another SD card. Maybe a new one and format that right.
If you cna see the games and load one (even if broken) it sounds like a faulty SD somehow?
Or maybe u got the incompatible gbc mentioned in the thread above

thank you for the pic, the EZ-FLASH Junior is not working properly on this board for now. This issue will be fixed once we got a same board.

It will say Loading... Micro SD initial error!
Please fix this issue asap & I hope this issue can be patched.
I just installed a IPS V2 backlit and it would be a shame if I can't play with your new card.

We've checked dozens of second-hand Gameboy Color in our Chinese user group, all with suffix CPUs. so, still going.
Frequent urging can only make us take time to reply to your posts, and can't improve our search for the right board.
BTW: we sold hundreds of EZ-FLASH Junior in China, We must be contacted if someone have the no suffix CPU board.

unfortunately I have the same problem. I was very excited to receive my Game Boy Color with backlit screen from eBay, but the EZ Flash Junior doesn’t work on it (it does on my GBA SP tho). I have formatted my 32go SD Card to Fat32 with a cluster of 32kb of allocution space. Very disappointed, I will try to obtain a refund from the seller. May buy again if the problem is fixed in the futur.
Please let us know when there’s something new regarding this matter.

I have a GBC with a CPU CGB C that I put a Freckleshack in. I use an Everdrive GB. I know it's not the same, but when batteries are low, if it tries to read the SD, it might turn off completely. This is normal from what I hear.
Similar to your case, if I run a specific game (a Japanese horse racing game, Tekichuu Rush), on fresh batteries or the official AC adapter, it shuts off when it tries to load it. If I use a USB power cable (the one from JellyBelly Customs), it loads without issue. Although these are two different things, using that USB power cable might be a workaround as it can supply more current than even the official AC adapter.
