If you were worried that March 2020 might be a little too packed for game releases, then you can take one completely off the table. Square Enix has delayed the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Remake. Fortunately, this delay is a rather small one, pushing back the release date from March 3, 2020, to April 10, 2020. The reasoning behind the delay is so that the developers can "ensure [they] deliver a game that is in-line with their vision". According to the team, this slight delay will give the game an extra bit of polish, which is important, considering how highly-anticipated the remake is.

“We know that so many of you are looking forward to the release of FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE and have been waiting patiently to experience what we have been working on. In order to ensure we deliver a game that is in-line with our vision, and the quality that our fans who have been waiting for deserve, we have decided to move the release date to April 10, 2020.

We are making this tough decision in order to give ourselves a few extra weeks to apply final polish to the game and to deliver you with the best possible experience. I, on behalf of the whole team, want to apologize to everyone, as I know this means waiting for the game just a little bit longer.

FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be available for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system from 10th April 2020.

Yet again, the ONE game that would make me buy a PS4 gets delayed. Of course.

So let's see, as far as FF7 delays we got an announcement of remake in the early 2000's for PS2. All we heard from then on were tumbleweeds. Then it was supposed to be for the PS3. Nope, fat chance. Now it's for the PS4. Already delayed several times.

Who's ready to put their money on PS5? I am.

We really need to stop rewarding publishers for including anti-customer elements in their games, whether that's loot boxes, outrageously expensive additional transactions (I've seen $99.99 transactions before, which should be crazytown but, due to some players buying them, isn't), different 'editions' of games that can cost up to double the price (if not even more than that), rigged multiplayer modes, hidden EXP scaling (I still remember that gaff, Bungie and Destiny), and episodic games that cost far more than they have any right to.

People once used to laugh at Elder Scrolls: Oblivion's horse armour DLC, but that would be seen as a goddamn mercy these days. I hate this huge leap into customer-hostile territory, and it's due to players buying this crap regardless of the outrage and rightful criticism, thus making it financially worth it - especially since our attention and memory are horrendously short, so 'weathering' the shitstorm is unfortunately quite viable.
As much as I love gaming, I really am looking forward to the second videogame crash; hopefully that would bring business practices back towards the pro-customer side.

And if you're talking about the original... then its on pretty much everybody's top 10 list of greatest games ever.
Of course like everything else in life ... even when something is GREAT and that sentiment is express by the majority and the masses, a small insignificant number of people will hate/dislike it because thats how it is. The good thing in this case, is that the number of people who don't like the original source are so small, they don't matter, nor ever will.

The majority of people like pop music too, does that automatically make that the best kind of music ever? Just because something is or was popular doesn't make it good. Oh and don't forget this is not even a remake of the full game. You'll pay $60 for part 1, then 5-10 years later shell out another $60 for part 2, and so on, assuming they don't give up part way through lol.

I was in the same boat as you. except! it actually is still the same battle system. just instead of waiting for your bar to fill, you run around doing small damage instead of just waiting. once your gauge fills, the action stops and you can pick your magic/item/bigger attack. just summons are only for big bosses now, and can't be used in normal battle, so there'll probably be other changes too. I'm guessing there'll be options on how this'll work, but this is what the interviews have revealed. let's hope they didn't change it too much.


*edit* OOO and they added a "classic" mode, where the free-roaming bit is done automatically, and everything pauses when your gauge fills up. so it becomes same as the original. hooray!

A bit hostile? Have you played it? The 2nd Disc blew my mind, it has an incredible story and I think it'll take them at least 10 years to complete the entire remake, it's that extensive and well made.
