sounds amazing! I wanted to thank you for your work on Medicat! its helped with with lots of repair jobs lol. Will the new version work on UEFI and BIOS? also do you reckon it'll be ready by 20.04?
The new version will NOT have BIOS booting support, since it's not really needed.

I can't seem to get this to work.. I have an older copy of Medicat I've been using and went to make a new version.

I first tried to make it with rufus + default settings, and when I boot it I get "Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause." ... "0xc000000f" ... "A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed."

I then tried making the USB with the exact rufus settings listed in the main post, this produces a USB that isn't listed in my F12 boot menu.

In both instances I cannot launch it within Windows either; Autorun.exe -> Launch MediCat Menu -> "Could not find the PortableApps.com Platform main EXE: F:\PortableApps\PortableApps.com\PortableAppsPlatform.exe"

Same thing if I run F:\Start.exe and indeed the PortableApps folder is not present.

In case there was an issue with my drive I tried an alternate flash drive, to the same effect.
I also verified the MD5 of the ISO I downloaded.

I could understand it not booting because of an issue with UEFI, secure boot, etc.. but the not coming up with portable apps has me thinking there is a bigger problem.

The PortableApps are only included on the Mini Windows 10 ISO now. I simply forgot to remove that MediCat Menu Launcher.

Hi,

I've tried to uncompress my Windows 10 ISO files in the Windows 10 folder to try installer.
Computer boot fine on the installer, but he asks for drivers before to load disk. "A media driver your computer needs is missing, blablabla..."

If I try same ISO mounted on an USB stick with rufus, no issue.

If you've ideas...

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Other little question.
Now that we must created two media (one for BIOS, one for UEFI)

The process of Rufus installation is the same for both or you need to change soemthing ?

I mean Partition MBR / Target BIOS (or UEFI-CSM) / File System NTFS
I have the same problem. At first, every windows installer is booting fast and properly. When i try to install them the "A media driver your computer needs is missing...." error occurs.I have no clue how to solve this. This may be the last version for me because i work with old computers which does not support UEFI.Great tool anyway, thank you Jayro!

I am having some issues with the SpinRite in the latest version of MediCat. I tried using different HDDs/SSDs/computers but it still hangs at "Discovering System's Mass Storage Devices..." popup window with text "Working..." under it. Anybody can replicate this issue or is it just me?

EDIT: Found out it is happening only on HP laptops for some reason. All have secureboot off and legacy boot support.

The only thing I can suggest is try Spinrite on its own USB stick. Maybe there's a driver for the data chipset that it needs but isn't there.

So have you removed the Windows10 version from the medicat_v19.10.stable.iso ? I used rufus to burn it to a USB flash drive and booted into it. I see a bunch of menus to other utils but no menu simply to boot into Medicat WinPE version.

The WinPE was removed due to confusion, so I decided to simplify things for end-users and on my end for development reasons. It will return in my UEFI version in April. The WinPE is still it's own ISO. Active@ Boot Disk is still a bootable WinPE with many tools in it, if you need that.

I was wondering, for the miniwindows10 (UEFI bootable) is it possible that we can add kaspersky, or a scanner other than malwarebytes, so to have two instead of one?

To continue with the App Suggestions:

QTTabBar: Tabs on the Windows Explorer.

Would be nice if would be considered if works it on the Live 10, - needs a log out to be applied -.
Attached, there is a settings file - unzipp it -.
Would be easier to check some of its features, it has a lot.

There are other Apps as Clover, but QT integrates itself on the WinExplorer.

Clover Portable hangs opening new windows outside the App, at least the versions I've tested.

Also,
The current W10 Live Explorer takes lots of space with the Ribbon menu opened, at least for my the bar is mostly unused.

Also,

A question about Opera:

Tried to update the default installed and then stoped working.

It has any custom settings?
Any that we would retain to update the browser normally?

Thank you

hello, first of all thanks for the release. i love this "distribution". Before I used only the portable apps, now I have an executable key and also with several portable apps. I noticed, however, that lately several antivirus find everything and more in portable files. Leaving aside the various hacks and keygens, I detect viruses, Trojans and more. Has anything changed in the distribution? if I use it as it used to be on some PCs, antivirus software will delete my programs.

Thanks
PS: Sorry for me bad english

I boot this on my Zalman just fine, you may need to change your BIOS settings to boot Legacy/CSM and disable Secure Boot.
