Well I got my injects to work by simply redownloading nintendont with the sd card menu and generating a nincfg but now a new problem appeared, that being that the nincfg.bin doesn't save my settings. Everytime I open nintendont even if I already enabled memcard emulation previously, it's always off. So even though I can play my injects, they don't detect a memory card.

did you enable it when making config.file in wiivc(enable memcardemu and maybe also tick memcard multi )?is your nintendon't auto boot off?

I never actually never realized you can enable nintenont settings on the sd card menu (yeah I'm a dumbass), but it's strange, when I enable memcard emulation, multi or not, it always says failed to create memory card file, so I decided to try it with only force progressive and wii u widescreen out of curiosity and that resulted in saying boot.dol not found. And if I make a nincfg with nothing enabled at all, the game works but I can't save. This is weird. And yes the autoboot is off.

Edit: I FOUND OUT WHAT IT WAS. It was so simple. Apparently my sd card adapter was "fried" or something. I googled the issue and some guy said he just switched sd adapters and it worked. So I tried it and bam. Starts working. I really don't think my sd card adapter may be fried since the wii u has to access it to open the boot.dol located on the sd card to open nintendont, and the homebrew channel can access and open my apps located on it. Maybe it can't read parts of the sd card or something with that adapter, I really don't know. Very strange, not sure what causes this. I just couldn't believe it was so fucking simple. Well anyway hopefully this helps someone else with this issue!

Hopefully it's not to frowned upon to necro old posts, but if you're having this issue it may be any usb controller you have connected. My mayflash was the culprit for mine not working, and it appears to be a more recent issue with nintendont.

This is what I found on Github
(I guess I'm too new to post, just look up issue #712)

I have found a solution to this problem.

To create a gamecube inject you don't need to open the sd card menu each time and check different settings. I would sometimes do different settings depending on different games thinking it was going to be a game specific injector file. Instead the config file the injector creates is for all games.

I have a file for nintendont and nincfg.bin that has been working for me. I haven't tested it with all my games but ever since I started using it, I've successfully booted into the gamecube games each time.

Ultimately the devs of nintendont and this injector tool should work together to create a game specific file for the injector which can be used to apply different settings for each game on nintendont since one blanket settings file for all games creates compatibility issues. Maybe even create a community database with config files. I think some users figured a work around where they would boot into nintendont from vwii and then return to wii u menu to launch the game. I am not sure if this method creates some kind of temporary file or not.

Instructions
Put nincfg.bin on your root and let it replace the file already stored on the SD card.

Place Nintendont on your SD card in the apps folder. I believe this is an older version of nintendont. I haven't tested a newer version with it. Let me know if the newer version works as well. This is obviously not a perfect solution since it may not be compatible with all games but its worked for me on most of my titles so far.

Update on file:
I would like to upload the file but I am a new member. I will update this thread as soon as I'm given hyperlink privledges. If someone would like to post the mega link for me send me a pm and Ill forward the link.

I’ve been having nothing but problems with TeconMoon’s injector, some games work maybe 1 out of 5 attempts, most don’t work at all, some work and then don’t work and the work again later. It doesn’t matter whether they are installed in NAND or USB either, doesn’t make a difference. It mostly just doesn’t work or will work once or twice then not work...very very frustrating, anyone have a solution yet?

*EDIT I generated a new nincfg file using the Nintendont sd card menu function of teconmoons injector app and so far things are working again.

Never mind after working for one game it’s back to black screens again. We simply need a working injector, if anyone knows of one...

I've had problems with every injector I've tried so far (TeconMoon's, USB Helper, and UWUVCI). All the same problem, the black screen of death when I try to boot into the game, along side the Wii logo popping up on my game pad screen. I'm currently trying my new HDD to see if that will make a difference. Anyone know if Factory Resetting the console could help?

If you don't mind losing everything on your Wii U then I say go for it you've got nothing to lose other than that. Could be a solution.

For those having issues with injected Wii or GC games booting to black screen, this happens soon after your WiiU soft boots into vWii mode.

Here are some trouble shooting tips.

External USB HDD:
This one seems to be a common issue that I have come across personally and also with others as well.
Not all ext USB HDD works the same, in vWii mode, it can be picky on the type of USB HDD used. The issue is the USB controller used in the HDD enclosure, it may not be compatible in vWii mode, even though it works fine in WiiU mode.
When you boot up a Wii or GC injected game, your WiiU does a soft reset and boots into vWii mode to launch the game. If the USB HDD handshake or initialisation doesn't happen within a certain time frame, you will get black screen most of the time, if your lucky, the game might boot.
Personal experience, out of 5 ext USB HDD that had and tested, 2 simply wouldn't work and always boot to black screen, 1 would work randomly, and the other 2 works perfectly, all different brands.
There is currently no compatibility list around that I know of as to what HDD is good to use, also USB3.0 HDD is useless on the WiiU and has no benefits, WiiU is still USB2.0.
Try another ext USB HDD.

WiiU USB ports:
For troubleshooting, make sure you have nothing connected to the USB ports on your WiiU and install the injects on your NAND and test. If inject works, then try connecting the ext USB HDD back to the WiiU again and try launching the same Wii/GC inject again that is on your NAND. If game boots to black screen, then you have narrowed it down to the ext USB HDD.
Either remove ext USB HDD and just play off the system NAND or get new USB HDD.

Other Troubleshooting:
- Boot into vWii mode, then exit back to WiiU, then try booting Wii/GC again. For GC injects, try delete the gc config file on the root of your sd card.
- Make sure your WiiU system language is set to ENGLISH if you have it set to any other language.
- Try a new SD Card (make sure you copy all the files from the old to the new)

If all fails, then you have a rare WiiU that simply doesnt want to play nice with Wii/GC injects. I have read a few posts in the past where people have tried the above troubleshooting and nothing works, even factory reset didnt help and there was no solution for this.

Good luck.

This worked for me:

I suffered with this issue for a year until I figured out the problem. I use teconmoons wiiu vc injector and haxchi, using wup installer x2 for the installs. Nintendont is downloaded on my sd card. All games were installed in nand.
So basically before you build your game in WIIVC injector, open advanced and disable autoboot. Unfortunately you will have to do this for every game you want to inject. Install the game with wup installer and start it. You will get taken to the nintendont menu where you can enable memcard emulation and wiiu widescreen. You should be able to boot the game without any issues from the nintendont menu!
I'm sure for many people here this will be a no brainer and obvious (lol!) But it took me a long time to figure this out and judging from some posts online, many others are struggling with the black screen of death. So I hope this ends up helping someone out. I know if I found this info a year ago it would have saved me many headaches!

I fixed my black screen on vGC and vWii games issue, and I don't think it has anything to do with the way you're injecting games.

Some of the talk on this thread about some USB drives not working properly resounded to me, in particular the part about the Wii U having a soft-reboot and timing out when certain drives didn't turn back on in time for the vWii to read them. One thing that we usually forget in troubleshooting is Layer 1 of the OSI model- Physical. I was sure the actual drive was working OK, and for laughs I tried a different powered USB hub....and boom! Every game started working. This USB hub had power switches for each USB port so I turned all of them 'off' except the one I used.

For posterity's sake, I'll list what hardware I have. Maybe this will help others in the future.

  • Hard Drive: Seagate Backup Plus Ultra Touch 2TB Portable Hard Drive Model STHH2000600, from Costco

  • First 'non-working' USB hub that I got the black screen on for VC Gamecube and Wii games (but still worked for Wii-U Vc games): Sabrent 4-Port USB 3.0 Hub with Individual LED Power Switches, from Amazon
    • With: AC to DC Adapter 5V 2A Power Supply Adapter with 1.35mm x 3.5mm Barrel Plug AC Charger, separately purchased from Amazon
  • Second, 'working' USB hub that 'fixed' the issue: sunvito 7-Port USB 2.0 Hub with Individual Switches and LEDs, USB Hub 2.0, from Amazon
    • With: AC to DC Adapter 5V 2A Power Supply Adapter with 1.35mm x 3.5mm Barrel Plug AC Charger, separately purchased from Amazon
I guess you can say that this further isolates the black screen issue to the wonky, underpowered Wii-U USB ports and their interoperability issues with USB devices. I read that some people have this issue with powered USB drives, and I can only speculate that since these drives can 'sleep' when not in use that could be the issue.

I used the back bottom USB port on the Wii U. No other USB devices were connected.

Hope this helps.

okay, SOME injects that I've played before have, for some reason, stopped booting, I have a feeling it's an iOS issue, but i could be wrong, so does anyone know of a fix if it IS an iOS issue? (And no, I'm not talking about Gamecube injects, I mean like Wii Injects)
