when it comes to this particular field,
"Should" isnt good enough lol
ive used patches in updates before that only work with the first version of the game, not a revision or 1.1
guess ill just have to test it out on both.
IIRC it worked for me, but it was almost 2 years ago so test it

Hello, didn't get to reach out earlier but every single time i try to to the tournaments at the desert city albarax, my game crashes, i see a series of zeros and something to do with translation. is this a common issue? has anyone been able to do the tournaments?

v1.3 released (update 1.3.0 compatibility)

Hello Hunters/Riders,
we're proud to release our story translation for Monster Hunter Stories. We decided to release our work now in an unpolished state, due to the recently announced localisation. Make no mistake, if you want to experience the game on a professional quality level, please buy the official localisation. This release is for the impatient players and importers who would like a taste of the story in english now. I hope you will enjoy our work.
- dasding

Please Note:
Our patch is only intended for users that own the original japanese version of the game.
Please DO NOT report typos or alignment issues as we will only update the patch in case of crashes.

What's translated:
All User Interfaces
All Tutorials (Rider Notes)
All Monster Guide entries
All Rider Card Titles
All Item Names and many descriptions
All Weapon & Armor names
All Skills and their description
All of the Synopsis
All Side Quests Objectives and 75% of the descriptions
All Battle Messages
All DLC (with code patch)
98% Story Dialogs & Cutscenes
50% Side Quest Dialogs
15% Other NPC Dialogs

Patch Methods:
1. NTR Plugin
*no longer supported

2. luma
* assumes you have the latest game update installed
* luma game patching must be enabled
* luma v7.0.1 or newer required
- Download patch files from here
- Copy the folder "luma" onto the root of your SD card merging the contents.
- run MH Stories

3. patch CIA (for advanced users only)
- extract v1.3.0 UPDATE CIA
- Download patch files from here
- merge luma/titles/XXX/romfs folder content with romfs
- apply code.ips patch (from luma folder) on the extracted and uncompressed code.bin
- repack update CIA
- install update CIA
- run MH Stories

FAQ
Do i have to start NTR everytime before starting MH Stories?
Yes. You don't have to, if you use the luma or CIA method.

Will i lose my savefile when patching?
No, savedata is stored in extdata which does not get removed when un-/reinstalling a cia.
Just in case make a backup with JKSM (extdata) to be 100% safe.

Can i play online with this?
Yes you can.

Will i get banned for using this?
A ban is very unlikely.

What's luma/FBI/NTR?
If you have to ask this consider reading basic guides about 3ds homebrew and cfws.

Can i use this with HANS?
You can try to patch the romfs.bin with provided files and use that with HANS. We did not test that and won't provide support for it.

Having the exact same issue here, latest Luma, latest b9s. @dasding, is there a workaround? I wish that this could be completed, since the JPN version has content that other regions do not have.

Edit: I have attached my crash dump (it's for Luma 9.1, but Luma 10.0 has the same error anyway).

Hey, I just thought of something... Did you try disabling ARM11 exception handlers in the Luma config menu?

Edit: Just tried it; doesn't help.

@dasding hey is there anything youve heard about this?
If you're playing via .cia installed with the patched v1.3 update, you can just delete the update in FBI, then do the tournaments with the straight JPN .cia. That might be the only workaround right now, sadly. @dasding hasn't been on any of his accounts in 5-6 months (his reddit account, /u/_dasding, hasn't seen a post in 8 months)

Any chance this will be completed? The other regions will never see the JP exclusive content sadly. Maybe the mobile version can help you finish the remaining untranslated parts.
