Thats great. First immediate benefit i can see from this is that we no longer need twice the space on the SD to install an NSP game. I just need the space necessary for the game. Also no need to take out my SD everytime i want a new game.

Its progress. With that said, it would be awesome if we can install games TO the USB device, so people with 64gbs sd cards or less can have all the games they want without having to buy a new SD/delete games, but hey, we can start little by little. Im sure we would get that in the future.

I remember reading somewhere that free CFWs always surpass paid options. I think SX its in a great place right now, but with stuff like this and hopefully EmuNAND in the future, Atmos could be the way to go, for free and paid users.

On the PS3 the first free PS3 jailbreak was a pirate copy of the paid one & Cobra was much better than the free CFW, eventually Cobra released the source and since then it's been improved.

It's not a universal truth that free CFW developers will out perform those doing it for cash.

Sweet! Nice work to all involved! This is a big deal :D im excited to be able to install nsps from my usb while on the go, rather than be tethered to a computer to install... Or worse, tethered to a usb drive running xci's. I may be the opposite of @tinkle in this case lol. I see the xci's as more of a burden lol. Installing nsp's from a temporarily connected usb is way more convenient than being forced to have to have a harddrive/flashdrive connected just to play a game :D
I can also send xcis between my USB and my microsd on the fly.

that's when usb install comes into play

no need for double the space and no need to take the sdcard out

Cool. I don't need all the game installed at once, just the ones I want to try before I buy them (yeah, i'm one of those weirdos). This would definitely make the process less painful. Let me keep all of them on usb and install/uninstall without unplugging anything.

Excellent work! thank you for this.

seems good for handheld users who are away from their PC (or people who don't have a PC) - not really comparable to SX's HDD feature tho, which can do this and more.

while its of little interest to me as i'm not usually far from my PC, it could lead to some great new projects in the future!!

Rome was not built in one day!!!!!

This is a great step in the right direction. I come from the ps4 scene that is much slower than this scene and I remember it started like this. Thank you Xortoll and the dev's that are working on this project and other projects on your time.

well Cobra didn't release the source code. It was a member of cobra itself who was dissatisfied with how the team was handling matters so he leaked the source code.

For those who don't see the point of USB-HDD or USB drives support, do I have to remember that its the best system to browse files without having to plug and unplug the SD card, nor having everything in a single device?
I do not understand why to implement this in Atmosphere. Perhaps they said that EMuNand would exist ?, that is, they should already have their own USB-HDD module (Private). Either way, will this work for EmuNand right now?

You can play games directly from USB with SXOS .

This looks very crappy compared to the sxos implementation, well the USB hdd was not needed because is just a sxos feature lol so being crappy is understandable

This is in debugging stages at the moment. Keep that in mind.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

It'll most likely be as good or even better than SX OS' implementation when it finally becomes stable.

You can do both in SXOS, hunny. As XCI's dont require installing beyond copy pasting to the USB drive, you are installing them 'to' the USB when you copy paste them, where they are immediately playable.
That's not installing. That's just copying and pasting.
