As the title says. I downloaded a SSBU nsp when the leaks were new, and now when 6.2.0 works I really want to know if it's safe, since I downloaded it from the only site out of like 5 on a reddit page that wasn't taken down

Install the newest Atmosphere. It prevents you from overwriting the key blobs.
Should be as save at it could be at the moment ;)

https://gbatemp.net/threads/atmosphere-updated-to-0-8-0-adds-6-2-0-switch-fw-support.524770/

BOOT0 now has write protection for the BCT public key and keyblob regions.
  • The ns sysmodule is no longer allowed to write the BCT public keys; all other processes can.
    • This should prevent system updates from removing AutoRCM.
  • No processes should be allowed to write to the keyblob region.

Always have a full NAND backup and you should be generally safe, still updating to latest Atmo will make the "newb brickers" useless, which is also nice.

Dw, I got the game now. BUT someone scared me super hard when they said "Dude, you're gonna get banned, nintendo knows what you're doing and i'm sure they just wont let you go like that" If I'm in flight mode for the whole week I wont get console banned right? It would suck so badly. How do i stay safe? Can I uninstall mods when the game releases?

Golden Rule, Mod=Ban.
You can be safe, you can be safer, and you can be safest, but never 100% proof.

I successfully unmodded a switch and i play online with it with legit games now by following a guide pinned here.
Basically before touching ANYTHING, do a full Nand backup, go flight mode and mod as much as you please.
When you want to unmod, restore the backup. Its time consuming, but (in my case, results may vary) successfully got me online without ban.

Omg no whaaaat
I backed up my nand, would that save me?
Plus remember to not update while you are in cfw, cause it will burn fuses as soon as you go OFW, which means you cannot run OFW without hekate anymore.

Im not confortable saying "yes you'll be safe", but it should decrease detect probability.
Again, you are not 100% safe.
Just be sure to have the constant though "will this leave any trace?" if the answer is yes, dont do it.
Have you already modded?
Which CFW?
Have you done the Nand backup before modding?
did you enabled Flight mode before backupping or after?

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

They probably said "Hey, why not we combine the two together and make a 'new' DS to sell".

It's a DS Lite in a slightly bigger DS Lite shell.

    It's not a Nintendo / iQue official product, it's a 3rd party custom.

Nothing special about it other than it's more comfortable than the Lite

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.
  • AncientBoi @ AncientBoi:
    I don't pirate them, I Use Them :mellow:. Like I do @BigOnYa 's couch :tpi::evil::rofl2:

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
