Simple question

If I install a nightly vpk will it overwrite the original install and bubble? Or would it just make a seperate bubble
Sometimes is a little mess so I just erase the original bublble and install the new vpk.

But the real tech is to unzip the vpk and just replace the .elf (of your interest, each one is a separated emulator) and main app on the retroarch folder.

So deleting the bubble won't wear my current retroarch folder in data/ . I don't want to lose my saves and Roms

You won't lose them, but if you are really scared, you could always backup them, since you have your Vita connected to the PC to transfer the new nightly.

Anybody else having trouble with the latest nightlys on a pstv? Every time I try to run anything it closes out to the livearea, the last stable version works so I know I installed everything right...

Has anyone been experiencing overall worse performance with latest builds (19/08/2018)? Because I also recently installed VitaGrafix plugin and I don't know whether it is due to the plugin or Latest retroarch builds.

I'm using 07/08/2018 and it's running the same as a stable build. Although l don't know what VitaGrafix is

-edit-

From what I read VitaGrafix shouldn't affect retroarch. But I may be wrong

Thank you! I actually found out it was VHS MENU plugin that was causing the issue. I was losing around 10 FPS with that plugin.

How was VHS causing issues? Maybe knowing this will explain my issues I've been having with other stuff
Well all I did was uninstalling all of my plugins, reinstalling one by one and testing Retroarch performance. I observed an overall 10 FPS drop upon installing VSH plugin. But I don't know exactly how is it affecting.

I can confirm this. Previously I tested Metal Gear Solid with the following results:
I gave it a shot with PCSX ReARMed, PAL version Metal Gear Solid and the PSP2PSX bios. Previously when playing up to the Hind D takeoff cutscene, I was recording dips in framerate of 37 fps, with as low as 33 fps in some intense cases. Now, I'm recording a framerate dip of 42 fps, with the one exception being the elevator cutscene still diving at 33 fps.

What I didn't include in those results was the VSH plugin I also had installed, because I didn't realize it could've been a factor to the performance. With the plugin disabled, I'm now getting a mostly solid 50 fps with occasional dips at 49-47 fps, and at the worst around 45 fps at the elevator cutscene.

As for why this plugin is doing this? Probably because the plugin line is listed under *ALL in the config.txt, which should mean any and all apps are affected. Presumably the plugin must be using a bit of processing power to run in the background, even when it's not actually in use.

I think its preventing games from overclocking properly. For example i was playing NFS MW, and after i overclocked the CPU via VHS it made the gameplay so much better, im about to see if it makes a difference on retroarch playing Earthbound, maybe the slowdowns will go away

Right, but if I recall correctly that overclocking only affects that particular game you're playing. VSH won't even start up in Retroarch to allow said overclocking, but while it's in the background it'll still eat up some precious CPU that Retroarch sorely needs.

Yeah, VHS won't load at all in retro arch you wouldn't think that such a plugin would use so much resources that it would cause this? I wonder if there's a way to disable VHS while running only retroarch

Alternatively, if it can be made to work with Retroarch or make a smaller footprint in the background, that would be nice as well.

I submitted a request on the taiHEN GitHub to see if it's possible to exclude plugins for certain apps.

--edit-

Seems the guy isn't adding any features :( but someone added a parser, but I don't understand how it works yet

https://github.com/DaveeFTW/taihen-parser

You put halt point entry (the same as normal section for a titleid in the config.txt, but with a ! at the start) for retroarch above your *ALL section, so that when retroarch is loaded taihen processes up to the retroarch halt point, loads anything in that section (probably nothing in this case) and doesn't go any further.
That way it never reaches the *ALL section when loading RA,so wont load anything within it. All other titleIDs without a halt point entry will continue on and load the plugins listed under *ALL.

So I just need to replace the files from the parser I take it, but I don't know what line to put for retroarch since I don't think it has a titleid
