TX Releases SX OS v1.3

TX Releases Another Update To Their SX OS, with a big new feature: 'eShop NSP Support' :)
sxos13.jpg
TX does not seem to want to take a break, they have now pumped out yet another major update to their SX OS, check it out below:
We are back once again with an exciting update for SX OS. Let's skip the drama for now and jump straight to the list of new goodies:
  • Add LayeredFS support
Are you excited about any upcoming Game Mods for switch games? Well, we are! To accommodate this we have added what is commonly referred to as "LayeredFS" support. In short what this allows you to do is override specific files from a game with modified copies that are loaded from your microSD's (ex)FAT partition.
Place your custom game files under the following locations on the microSD root:
    - /sxos/titles/<titleid>/exefs/
    - /sxos/titles/<titleid>/romfs/
We can't wait to see what cool mods the community will come up with!
  • Add eShop NSP support
This adds support for installing and launching installed eShop NSP files. This is still rough around the edges and for advanced users only. To install NSP files you need a legitimate copy of the DevMenu, which can be launched currently via LayeredFS. We are still working on adding a custom and easy to use NSP installer to our own menu system. Stay tuned!
WARNING: We do not recommend playing online with installed eShop NSP games without a valid ticket, as this WILL lead to a console ban without a doubt.
  • Add low battery reconfiguration on bootup
Some users were having battery issues after playing around with Switch Linux custom payload. This fixes the "battery desync" issue every time you boot your switch. If you weren't use Switch Linux there's nothing to worry, otherwise; enjoy your penguins AND enjoy your horizon OS! :D
  • Hide OSX Temp files in game selection menu
If you were pestered by bogus entries in the game selection menu chances are high this is because you are using OSX (and Finder). We simply hide those files from the menu now. All cleaned up!
  • Removed eMMC password lock
It seems a perfectly safe and easily reversible hacker challenge we put in place for aspiring hackers has been blown out of proportion. We are sad to see so many false claims on the internet and to avoid any further false accusations and 'fake news' we decided to get rid of it. Namaste.
That's it for today! We'll be back soon. Team-Xecuter doesn't take a break. While others moan on social media we work day and night to bring you the best experience on Nintendo Switch.

I think everyone is glad the brick code is gone and let's remember nobody is bricked by it.

yeah, because surprise, there are still huge issues in SX's design

No there aren't. The only huge issue was the brick code. Surprise people don't give a fuck who wrote the code.

How do you figure? I mean I know what youre saying... What I'm saying is what makes you feel the hatred of people towards TX is unfounded? They stole code from other developer and sold it as there own for profit and this whole brick fiasco "hacker challenge" or otherwise is still a big load of crap.
You misunderstood me. What I'm saying is the developers who painstakingly wrote code only to have it used for profit while being subsequently mocked and insulted by both TX and scene leechers are the ones who have every right to retire or just not release their hax anymore.

Doesn't mean I have to like it.

I, personally, don't care about piracy. I'm aware that most do, but I care far more about the homebrew scene/state of layeredFS. What TX are doing is in direct conflict with those goals.
You don't need to like it. But coming to a SX update thread to be picking on TX is kinda childish.

And what TX does doesn't affect any of those things. Homebrew, Atmosphere, etc, they're all going to come and stay. You and me know this.

Let people who wants to pirate enjoy TX. All this bickering against it won't change those who already use it.

If anti-piracy Reswitch wankers want to leave, they are welcome to. No one will miss them.

ITT: Whining that a decades old piracy outfit has violated the GPL.

No one (except for anti-piracy whiners, who object on different grounds) cares. Those pretending to care are concern trolling.
That's blatantly untrue and only goes to show you just don't understand the fundamentals of the situation.

but then TX won't have any more code to steal, which means no more updates :(
TX were heavily involved in the Xbox 360 scene from what I have read. It's not impossible to think they could get by without other groups. It might take more time, but I doubt updates would stop.

It’s not a talking point, they literally broke the law. They could be sued if RS really wanted to.

And it’s been a problem for quite a while now, no need to pretend like SX doesn’t have its flaws.

And Nintendo can sue them for making piracy tools. A illegal/unethical group did more illegal/unethical shit .big whoop.

Oh SX does have flaws but the only thing that concerned me was the brick code. I couldn't care less if their codes were stolen. I'm pirating Nintendo games I'm doing worse thing than them.

1 more thing: eshop titles can be launched right?
I thought dev menu installs couldnt be played
I want to know this as well. I was under the impression that dev menu could install .nsp, but you wouldn't be able to launch them unless you have a valid ticket. Does this mean that SX OS has sigpatched eShop titles now too?

I suppose I could always just wait for a better/more stable installer to come out, but I've got a 2nd switch to mess around with and I'm not terribly concerned if it gets banned.

EDIT: Wouldn't it be nice if people could actually stay on topic instead of arguing about stolen code? This isn't the first time this has happened with a backup loading device, and it won't be the last time. Sketchy Chinese companies are gonna be sketchy. Deal with it.

Maybe so. That doesn't change the fact that I'm legitimately concerned about the state of the scene.

That said, this thread is going to hell. Leaving is probably best tbh

@Jayro, I don't see whats so special about the DS ML, its just a DS lite in a phat shell. At least the phat model had louder speakers, whereas the lite has a much better screen.

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM
  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:
  • cearp @ cearp:
still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm
  • rqkaiju2 @ rqkaiju2:
i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds
  • cearp @ cearp:
It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space
