Question 1:

From 3ds.guide - Section "Finalizing Setup":

  1. If you are prompted to create an essential files backup, press (A) to do so, then press (A) to continue once it has completed
  2. If you are prompted to fix the RTC date&time, press (A) to do so, then set the date and time, then press (A) to continue
    • Note that, if you had to fix the RTC date and time, you will have to fix the time in the System Settings as well after this guide
I was not asked any of those two questions. Everything worked fine, but I wonder
A: Why was I not asked those questions?
B: Is there a way to do those steps manually? Or is that really not needed?
C: What is this RTC date&time fix?

I created a SysNAND backup a fex steps after that. B9S and Luma work fine too.

Question 2:
I have a DS Game-Cartridge that sometimes just won't be recognized by my N2DSXL, so one of the first things I did was to create a dump of that cart.
Is there also a way to backup the savegame on the cart and use it with a flashcart? If so, how do I do the backup and where do I put it? (R4i RTS 3DS Gold Plus)

Figured that out already.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, still a noob. So, I was thinking of just paying someone I found to install Luma on my New 3ds xl, and was curious if after they did that what all I would need to prepare for. I'm assuming I'll just have to make a file directory on my micro sd card and put the games in and install them on the title screen? Would I need some kind of flash cart at any point? And I've seen some threads about people being banned for 3rd party software, is this something that will get me banned/is there a way to avoid it or remain hidden to avoid a ban?

Also correct me if I'm wrong, but I'd be able to emulate games from multiple consoles correct? Nes, snes, gba, 3ds etc?

Thanks!

You really can do it yourself very easily, no need to pay someone to do it. Just follow https://3ds.guide and you will be fine and if there's something you feel unsure about you can always ask here.

Aye, but I don't have any flash carts to do it(unless I don't need one?), plus would just feel better having the person I found with positive marks for it to do it rather than risk me bricking it first try.

If you're on 11.3 or below you don't need a flashcard, if higher you need one listed here: https://3ds.guide/ntrboot. Bricking is almost impossible and easily recoverable.

Ya, I'm on 11.3 last I looked.
So theoretically once I used the flash cart to install the cfw and all that's done, everything will be as simple as just putting files onto the micro sd card and installing on title screen?

s spend 10 usd to get a flashcard . . . its more than simple to do . . . it is also so efficient an entrypoint that even if you did manage to brick you can use the same flashcard to fix it . . . so even in the event you screw up you can just try again

Guys is R4i-SDHC-3DS RTS 2017 or their R4i-SDHC B9S better? I am going to do ctrboothax. Both chips are from r4i-sdhc
It's not ctrboothax. It's ntrboot. NTR = nitro, code name for NDS (it's called ntrboot because you're booting from a NDS cart)
It depends. If you're a noob, the latter, if you plan on using it for other things (like unbricking), go with the former. Both can still play NDS games.

hello guys, noob here. I bought the new 3DS XL to replace my dying stock 3DS today and plan to play back up 3DS games + multiple older nintendo/emulator on this new 3ds xl. I read the guide on 3DS guide but got confused since they list a whole bunch of cartridges and I am not sure which one I need. I am looking for the cheapest option to do this.

P.S. I softmodded my Wii, PSP and PS3 in the past so I am pretty comfortable with the CFW.
