So it's a texture cache issue. It's not dumping enough to the RAM and it probably have a lot of extra textures it doesn't need to keep still in the memory.

And at 27:00 JESUS those are some pre-2010 textures on that mountain right there. Nintendo must had really big issues optimizing this game for the Wii U. Poor sods.

@kumikochan do you have the same issues with massive framedrops if you walk in to the village? So it doesn't need to speed up the memory dumping process because you're riding in?

yup walking does the same thing. But the framerate isn't the worst in that village lol. It's even worse at the stables or in some forests

Okey, does it happen at roughly the same spot? If so, it has to do with the drawing distance and it starting to cache the village.

there are multiple villages in the world. Most crowded area's have framedrops like it shows in my video.
Sigh I guess it have to do with caching then. Well, nothing that is able to be done until someone cracks the Wii U totally open and runs everything from a superfast SD Card.

I know this is terrible to say, but i am just happy that someone made a video of this.
I am sick and tired of people calling me names in PMs and making me out to be some kind of maniacal Nintendohater.
I still honestly believe that a patch is incoming and that version 1.0.0 is not the version intended for release.
The patch we received was probably just the mandatory installation and the release-patch will be released soon.
That's when i continue playing.

Uhm I never got that image from you. I just felt that you actually cared for this game and wish to find out if it was just you or someone else. It's nothing wrong with that.

Nintendo hater? I would say people who only pirate their games are more haters then your criticism :P

Wow, people are STILL complaining about this? Apparently people have forgotten that Gameplay > Story > Graphics. And this game plays wonderfully. Also, those of you whinging on about the framerate drops in certain areas obviously never played Skyrim modded to the gills on PC. Personally, I can ignore it, same as I can look past the pop-in and "low res" textures.

Yes, Graphics aren't as important, but this game have been SOLD on it's beautiful graphics. It's not the binding of isaac we're talking about.
Pop-in and framedrops take out the immersion for me. It instead becomes an annoyance.

if you're fine with low framerates then that's fine for you but don't make it that everybody has to think that. I personally am a 60fps whore and do care about frametiming. 30 fps is fine as long as it has proper frame timing.

Same here, but I'm personally okey with 30fps on a console since... it's a console...

And it looks fine to me, I think the look is solid. The pop-in is unfortunate, but at least it's a faded pop-in, not the instant rendering we saw a year ago.

Hey, I like smooth, buttery frames as much as the next fellow. I'm just sitting here and am genuinely confused as to how people set their expectation for the game's graphics (and framerate) so high.

There is a reason why I'm getting it on the Switch. Cartridge (so damn fast) and stronger hardware. Probably less framedrops and pop-ins.

If you want to like something from the outset you will hardly be able to judge anything based on pure facts alone.
Being excited for something beforehand skews your perception.
I was not hyped for it at all, so i went in there expecting a game with solid gameplay and solid performance.
It delivered on one account and failed miserably on the other.
Sure, you can excuse and overlook certain things, because you simply want to enjoy it and you gladly accept anything they give you as long as it is Zelda, but that only works if you are a fan.
I am not a fan.
I am not willing accept a shoddy game, just because the gameplay is decent.
Nintendo knew the limitations of both consoles while developing and chose knowingly to deliver something that looks and performs like this.
They could have reduced the game in scope and removed things that made it lag and stutter, but they did not. They purposefully kept it like this.
The depth of this game is hardly comparable to any of the other main RPGs released in the recent past.
Not even close.
This isn't even a proper RPG, to be quite honest.
So, if you love Zelda? Go play this game right now. This is most definitely Zelda.
If you expect a solid game in both performance, gameplay and graphics? Play something else and see if they can fix it somehow.

And they most important thing is... they did not ADVERTISE it as such.
This game looks nothing like the trailers.
I don't want this game. I want the one they advertised.
I wonder when they plan to release that one.
LOZ - Breath of the Wild HD (For REAL this time!).

Well I can tell you on Friday if it's anything like the trailers if it's a Switch they advertise with.

More than likely. Though I doubt you'll see a huge improvement. Marked improvement, yes, huge, no.

I was excited, but came in with low expectations. I was ready to go back to the 20FPS days of Ocarina of Time. Yes, I'm a fan, yes, I'm excited about the game. I was also excited about Skyward Sword, and I was able to play it objectively and say it was crap, with little to no redeeming qualities, just like I'm playing BotW objectively and find it a very serviceable and fun game. Gameplay-wise, I find very little wrong with it. It's not meant to be a deep, immersive RPG either. It's an exploration-action title, with a helping of RPG on the side. Yes, I'm a bit disappointed about the framedraops and pop-in, but I'm also keeping in mind the hardware, and all of what's being rendered. Hopefully in the near future, we'll get an update that gives it more aggressive occlusion culling, or other optimizations. In the meantime, I'm very pleased.

The Switch suffers from the same issues, just to a lesser extent.
The Switch version also has some issues unique to it. Especially in docked mode, since it suddenly needs to perform at a 900p resolution which it seems ill-equipped to do, at least in this current version of the game.

Lets just agree that Zelda is a solid franchise and we would all really like to see these issues patched on both platforms, because then the discussion is moot and we can all just play the game.

Figured I'd share this here. Even though it's a phone pic, it does look spiffy. I did have to scale it down, though, since my phone is set to take 4K images...
