Homebrew A question regarding my banned 3ds and linking an NNID

Hi! I have a question regarding my banned 3ds. I only seem to have got the 002 ban, as I didn't have an NNID linked when the banwave happened for Sun/Moon.

I was wondering if linking a NNID would cause me to receive the 022 ban? I am able to unban myself from online play with the LocalFriendCodeSeed, also. I'm just wondering if I should unban myself before I link an NNID, or after. Thank you!

You can do either things, back up NAND and nnidsave.bin in dec9 first though, your movable.sed and LFCS too.

Thanks for the quick reply! Of course I plan to back up everything before touching it, in case of a brick. I have a9lh so I'm not too worried. I'm just wondering if my console is blacklisted for the 022 ban, but it doesn't show up due to me not having linked an NNID yet.

You're welcome, with A9LH you'll be ok, hopefully. Is the 022 ban just for friends list and NOT eShop? I know 2182 is for eShop and is apparently perm tied to your NNID. So, im guessing you should, be safe? I can't guarantee though. If you're wanting to just use friends list etc use the seed, if eShop, take the risk

Actually, the 2182 ban is tied to your console ID, not the NNID. The NNID was not affected by the ban wave. (This is from my experiences and other recources)

Oh, right. Well, you're best off not wanting a 2182 ban, so it doesn't ban the ID? but the DeviceID instead, hope it isn't as severe as a MAC ban

Actually, the 2182 ban is tied to your console ID, not the NNID. The NNID was not affected by the ban wave. (This is from my experiences and other recources)

Is there any way I could tell if my console ID was banned? I can access the eShop, and going onto the friends list gives me a 002 error like always.

Huh. That is funny! you must have bypassed the console ID bad by some sort of glitch If you dont get the 022 error in the eshop, then you should only be friendcodeseed banned.

Does the error usually still pop up for people who don't have an NNID linked?

No, once an NNID is linked it will be hit with 022-2182 and Nintendo does have records of that being attached to your NNID. Nintendo would not let me move my NNID over to a new console as it has an access ban for 3DS from being hit with 022-2182 as my NNID was already linked.

I can use my NNID on my Wii U however.

Wait, how were you able to move your ID to a new 3ds? did you call nintendo? If you are talking about relinking your id to your system after an unban, then it will give that error because your console still has a trace of your original ID.

I was not able to move it. Nintendo explained to me that my account had an access ban on it and refused to move it to a different 3DS. from what I have gathered so far, since the bans are server side,they are applied even without an NNID. as soon as one is linked to a banned 3DS Nintendo will automatically apply an access ban to that NNID and apply 022-2182 to the console to prevent the console from creating or transferring a NNID.

Gotcha. But I do hope that this will not affect future consoles with my NNID. Hah! actually, I'm going to go make a Backup ID and use that on my Switch. No chances will be taken...
