Hardware Any decent strategy to get my hands on that limited edition new 3DS on Black Friday?

Is this your first Black Friday ever?

People traditionally stand in front of lines hours before a store opens to be the first to get deals. This applies to any newly released products like iPhones too.

Miss the days when the deals actually warranted the wait. Doorbusters have been lackluster for years now. Can pretty much get everything worth getting from the comfort of your home. Still, if you want to see men/women act like angry apes, the brick and mortar experience can be a good show.

Was reminded of my DSphat I had lying around that I hadn't used in years. Compared screens with my cut-outs. Cut-outs are a little bigger, with top even more wider. Overall unit size is maybe a smidgen bigger in width/height than what the n3DS is meant to be. So, perhaps tomorrow before I go pick up the unit, I'll play on that a bit to get a feel for what it's like to play on a smaller screen/unit.

No offense but XL is garbage. The only positive I have to give to it is the extra hour of battery life it has over the standard but thats it. I would not prefer to carry around a minature laptop that cant fit in pockets on whats suppose to be a PORTABLE HANDHELD.

Standard 3DS has changable faceplates and more importantly better screen quality instead of the stretched out stuff XL owners have been seeing. If you want bigger screens you could homebrew the system and stream to your PC and view from your TV and/or Monitor.

Even with the smaller screen size the N3DS is an upgrade with the improved 3D, faster CPU and more RAM

That's the whole reason I even contemplated getting an n3DS for $99 in the first place. Just have to adjust myself with the smaller screens is all, and hope the unit doesn't cramp my hands.

yes using NTR, at least no hardmodding is needed.

I know my local Gamestop is getting a whopping 4 units. 3 black 1 white. they open at 5am, first come first serve. others in the area are getting about the same amount usually with a 1-2 difference. the largest store in the entire area is getting a massive 12 of them. so yeah. ill be there at 4-4:30am friday waiting. luckily i live like 5 mins away so i can and may run down and check to see if they start to get a line before then but its not likely. its a small town so most people will be going to the next one over to do there shopping.

I think the DS/old3ds screens are just too small and, in comparison, the new3ds is just big enough that you don't think you're looking at a tiny screen that you have to squint to see details. You won't be impressed by the size either. It's just ok.

I see "In Stock" but "Ship-to-Home" is unavailable and Pickup has no stores with that allowed.

It really is a special edition because I don't think you can get a regular size black 3ds then this in the US

That's the only thing though, that adds what, $25 dollars extra for a different color? I could understand about $125.

Well, I played a little bit of RE : DS last night on my DSphat, then some SM64DS this morning on it, but after I swapped out that game for Kirby's Canvas Curse, my DSphat decided "no more DS games!" and now fails to load any DS game unless I'm holding the card in a little bit more that where it's supposed to click in place. Of course, if I let go so it can click into place, it freezes. Talk about coincidence that when I want to test it, it fights with me. I'll go make a separate thread about how to fix that.

Subb'd, my brother found a reddit thread where someone got one early a few days ago and confirmed it was 11.0 FW. Looking forward to dowgrade this one and install his Charizard faceplate from his 20th anniversary edition.

i meant like, in the case that they did have white ones left in a warehouse somwhere or some shit, would I be able to exchange it or is what I bought what I get. Same question for returns. I've never returned anything to target before so Idk if it's like gamestop where it cant even be friggin opened, or like best buy where you can open and use but return if not satisfied..

You can return online orders to the store. Just repack it carefully. Nintendo doesn't use security seals on their boxes.

thanks so much dude! I also checked the return policy with google and it says "Most unopened items in new condition and returned within 90 days will receive a refund or exchange."
Is this 90 days affected by whether the item is open or not either?

why would you ever want a white 3ds? every little scratch collects grime and dirt instantly. its really not that yummy to look at after a while
