Hacking Want to switch from Gateway to A9LH but I have questions

Like many others here, I had a gateway setup but I want to switch to A9LH.

I have a N3DS on sysnand 9.0.0-20U

I should follow this guide right:

Since I have a 3DS, I should go directly to part 3?

But the guide is telling me something about the prep work and file9?

okay, and the SD card that the guide mentions, it is the micro sd card for the n3ds and the sd card for the 3ds right?

Just follow the guide exactly from the start follow all the steps to the letter until it tells you to skip to a certain part of the guide (Part III for New3ds).

No, do not update unless the guide tells you to do so. On Part 1 of the guide, there's a table that shows different firmwares and one of the rows say 9.0-9.2 and click the link that matches your 3ds.

• Get into the homebrew launcher through the entrypoint of your choice
• Launch SafeA9LHInstaller
  • If you get a glitched screen, follow this troubleshooting guide
• Press (Select) to Full Install
• The installer will now install arm9loaderhax on your device (this is very fast)
• Shut down your console, hold the power button until it turns off if necessary

When I press select to full install, I get an error:

Error: payload_stage1.bin doesn't exist or exceeds max size
Press any button to shutdown

It doesn't say anywhere in the guide where I should put the payload_stage1.bin file. I have it downloaded.

yeah, I followed that step. so it should be:

root/a9lh/arm9loaderhax-6-10/ or root/a9lh/(all the files in arm9loaderhax-6-10)

I tried both options and it still does not work. there is no payload_stage1.bin, just a folder named payload_stage1

What is arm9loaderhax-6-10? There is nothing from the guide named that. Read part 3 completely, gain the necessary files (3 torrents and 9 direct download links, mainly from github), and follow the steps.

ok nevermind, I downloaded the wrong files from github. It is working now.

the gateway website is down atm so I will wait until it is up again to continue the setup.

Ok. I got it working. It always nags me to install GW fast boot but that is bad right?

Would it be safer if we boot straight into GW Emunand, skipping GW sysnand? If so, how can we do that?

If you have an emuNAND into your microSD, you'll go directly into emuNAND.
But you can play into sysNAND with your GW but BE CAREFUL! To update your sysNAND you have to boot LUMA3DS and NOT Gateway, because GW doesn't offer FIRM protection!

@hsdubb19 don't use EMU, you can play with Gateway in SYS.
But don't update your SYS in Gateway mode, you have to use Luma3DS to update your SYSnand or you'll lost A9Lhax!
