I found this thread today and think its a amazing tool. Unfortunately, i have tried to do this using a Contra NES rom but receive a error message (attached to this comment). the error says that the process cannot access a certain file because its being used by another process, which makes no sense as this is the only program that is trying to access this file. Can anyone help with my issue? or is this a known issue with certain nes files. thank you!
Thank you for a extremely fast reply! I am using the NES style banner and when i click on 'continue' in the error, no CIA file is created from what i can see.Which banner style are you using? (NES, famicom, or famicom disk system?). Also, if you press continue, is the CIA created anyway?
Just out of interest, i also tried a different process which was exporting the banner, however i receive the same error...Thank you for a extremely fast reply! I am using the NES style banner and when i click on 'continue' in the error, no CIA file is created from what i can see.
I need to analyze them. Other users tried fds Roms with no success...In the 3ds JPN virtual console there is famicom disk system support as games like metroid use the famicom disk version of their respective game.
Does this mean we can inject .fds games? Or are these just converted to NES? Also castlevania 3 uses the vrc6 chip in the JPN 3ds version.
I can't inject the .nes rom of the Japanese version of castlevania 3 using your program (get a rom is not supported, also get this error when trying to inject kirby's adventure)
Could you look into getting vrc6 mapper support?
Lastly The Mysterious Murasame Castle is the only famicom disk system game in the USA Eshop but is it modified to remove the extra sound channels and stuff or is it a translated port?
Actually Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels is also supposedly an FDS game released on VC outside Japan. I'm curious how possible it is to run FDS with this emulator. Actually.I need to analyze them. Other users tried fds Roms with no success...
Well, I'll look into that too. It should have a tnes header. Or maybe that particular release uses a special version of the VCActually Super Mario Bros. Castlevania 3 (the JPN version)
uses it.
The virtual console rerelease in the JPN Eshop uses this version so I was wondering if you could get it to work.
Support swapping player1-player2, but not Download & Playsuport multiplayer?
I don't have a Wii to test...Any chance that something like this can be done for Wii? For Wii U we already have @ranses-12-'s series of injectors (GBA2VC, NDS2VC, N642VC, and (S)NES2VC).
Oh. Speaking of which, there's a Wii emulator named Dolphin that's the only one so far to run Virtual Console games at full speed. Citra (3DS) and Cemu (Wii U) run VC games at unplayable speeds, which is why you should need a real Wii U or 3DS to test when you're injecting VC games for either platforms.I don't have a Wii to test...
Eh, I'd say wii injection isn't worth the effort, as someone who did a pretty large amount of custom injections back then, the emulators are a lot more difficult to work with on that platform. Especially when you consider the homebrew emulators for that console are a lot easier to use, have better compatibility, and less restrictive functionality overall. The Wii VC was before save states were even a thing.Oh. Speaking of which, there's a Wii emulator named Dolphin that's the only one so far to run Virtual Console games at full speed. Yeah, you could only use suspend points. N64 and Neo Geo games didn't support suspend functionality back at the time, and if you injected the Wii VC, there might be a bigger chance of not coming out the way you expect it to, especially with Nintendo 64, Neo Geo and Commodore 64.Eh, I'd say wii injection isn't worth the effort, as someone who did a pretty large amount of custom injections back then, the emulators are a lot more difficult to work with on that platform. I know how ridiculous and pitiful it sounds, but is there a method of accomplishing this that avoids the .net 4.5 requirement? Stuck on XP here. (wife, kids, mortgage, car pmts, overseas vacations ... new PC hasn't been on the front burner of 'needs') I know it's probably going to be significantly more complicated if there is, but please point me there anyway. I really want to get this done for Insector X.
