But no, seriously, how much longer is Nintendo going to use the stability excuse? Why not just come out and say that they patched a vulnerability? :\
That's stability to them.

Great thread, love all the 'is it safe to update emunand?' questions. Do you launch menuhax from emunand? No. Stop being stupid.
No surprise really. For most people, whether or not EmuNAND still works is the most important question.

The second question is silly, of course.

After Googling for a while and getting the exact same results, can I ask where you guys are updating your Ninjhax payloads? Smea's Github isn't showing anything for 10.6 yet, but people in this thread are speaking as if they've already updated, so I probably just can't find where everyone else is downloading?

Its a minor update indicated by the version increase. And its been stated that it only fixes the theme and browser vulnerabilities. So of course it will work in emunand. Even if theres doubt, all it really takes is to do a emunand backup, update, and see if it works. If not, restore said backup and wait for a cfw update. I was just commenting on how many people know so little of how things work and need that update right now.

Theyre not updating payloads. They're updating emunands.

Every update from now until the end of the universe (or the end of support for the Nintendo 3DS, whichever comes first) will be.
Actually according to this and the fact that I'm online in smash bros 3ds while still being on 10.5, that's incorrect. You do not have to update from 10.5 to 10.6 to play online (which wasn't the case from 10.4 -> 10.5). You DO have to update to use anything with an NNID like Pokemon Bank or Badge Arcade, though, as far as I can tell.

Jeeze just make an emunand backup if something goes wrong. How would updating emunand even effect the sysnand!? The only thing that both nands share is internal 3ds memory. AKA. Dsiware is the only thing that can influence one nand to another. Everything is safe to update, just dont be an idiot and update the sysnand.

The questions get more rediculous the further the scene train goes.

'How will I boot emunand if I update emunand?'

I think we picked up some hobos along the way.

You know how some things reboot your system? Like Micro SD Management does? And how it brings you to settings in SysNand?

What if Nintendo decided to reboot your system before going to System Update. without telling anyone, therefore running it in SysNand, and updating SysNand? It'd only affect EmuNand and no one would notice other than EmuNand users. Not only that but there'd likely be no going back, either. It'd be pretty malicious.

They could, but most CFWs feature a version string changer, so it'd be obvious from a mile away if they did it, not to mention the popping sound that 3DSes make when rebooting (or mine does, anyway), making it even more obvious that something funny is going on.

The first part would be unnecessary - it'd go straight to the System Update portion without ever seeing the system number or string.

Then the solution is simple: you continue to use MSET from an older firmware which wouldn't have this forced update mode when you want to change settings around (and this is easily possible, as evidenced by Apache Thunder's MSET SD Edition). It's not like they're going to introduce many more new system settings at this point in the 3DS's lifecycle. It's 5 years old now.
