Thanks a lot! However I have never compiled anything in my life u_u (I'm not a programmer), that's why I was asking if someone could do it and upload it as a zip. Sorry for the trouble :/

The usual instructions of generating your firm folder, move your existing rxTools folder on the SD out of the way, and put the new rxTools folder in place.

This is based on the latest master.

Ok, I can't figure out what I need to do. I have an old 3DS XL on sysnand 4.3 running rxtools 2.6 with emunand 9.9

Can I update emunand to 10.5 on rxtools 2.6 on o3ds?

If not, I want to update rxtools but I do not see an rxtools.dat in the nightlies because it doesnt exist anymore. I want to launch rxtools using the MSET hack. In the readme.md file it says

I don't think I have MSET 6.x since I am on sysNAND 4.3, correct? So can't I use the mset explot anymore? I prefer not to bother with browser exploits or other kinds of things I need to install.

I've not tried this, but you could try installing FBI/whatever cia manager you like to sysnand. Run the Sysupdater to 9.2. Install mset 6.x and put the lastest stable version of rxTools on your SD? Wait for someone who has actually went down this route to chip in.

Can someone suggest my best course of action? Installing stuff to sysnand and updating sysnand to 9.2 would be something I'd rather avoid.

Basically my first two questions are:

1) can rxtools 2.6 run emunand 10.5 on o3ds?
2) can rxtools nightly be launched with mset explot from sysnand 4.3 (it says "requires MSET 6.x" in readme)

Okay, I found out the basic stuff for the 3.0 beta, but I still have a quick question. How should I update EmuNAND to 10.5? I updated to 9.5 using a CIA of Puzzles and Dragons, but I don't know what I'd use for 10.5, or if I could just use the normal updating method.

to update emunand, once its confirmed safe, which 10.5 should be, go from emunand to system settings, make sure its giving you the cfw firmware version (like Rx-10.4...) and then just go to the update button

Okay, I can confirm:

MSET exploit from nightly rxtools builds still works on 4.x sys. The rxinstaller.nds lets you choose which MSET exploit (4.x, 6.x) to install.

I am now on 10.5 emunand, 4.3 sysnand running rxtools nightly.

This is 8d9e02a without "RX-E" emuNAND prefix?

It's 8d9e02a9d30887a4a3b55c034b42ccf41d7852aa, I did a rebase/refresh, but GitHub and github.com are ignoring each other as because reasons.

I like being near bleeding edge haha.

Just wondering, is there any technical reason why there's no rxTools support for browserless 8.1J systems? It seems strange given that both Gateway and NTR CFW support browserless 8.1J systems through Cubic Ninja and MSET.

I ask because I am contemplating upgrading my 8.1J system to 9.2 using this guide, but to say it looks a bit risky would be an understatement. As it is, I'm pretty much obliged to use Gateway on this machine.

What? Cubic Ninja has been an option forever...

Wait, really? So rxTools works fine on browserless 8.1j? Is it just MSET that's not supported? Or does using Cubic Ninja for rxTools require a browser? Bearing in mind that *hax doesn't work on browserless.

EDIT - I've done some more research and my original comment seems to be correct. No way to run rxTools from Cubic Ninja on browserless machines. I mean, a QR code that loads rxTools directly without going through Homebrew Launcher (which doesn't work on browserless firmwares).

Gateway and NTR have QR code for this. rxTools, ReiNAND and Cakes doesn't for some reason.

So to bundle it out:

You have:
- Cubic Ninja
- Japanese System
- No browser

You want:
- Use Cubic Ninja or another way to boot rxTools

Question:
- If you can run NinjHax, you can go into The Homebrew Launcher?
- If you can launch The Homebrew Launcher, i supose you can run rxTools Homebrew launcher to boot rxTools?

There is no way to use Homebrew Launcher on 8.1j browserless, because it requires a browser. Thus, the rxtools.3dsx file cannot be used.

Gateway and NTR CFW get around this by having their own QR codes that load their code directly, rather than going through the browser. You can then of course use Gateway to install the MSET exploit, too. As far as I'm aware, they are the only two CFW that work on 8.1j browserless. Would be interesting to know why - if Gateway can do it, then others should be able to do it too, right?

I'm wondering, is it possible to just install the 9.2 N3DS browser via Gateway Sysnand mode? Or will that result in a brick/not work at all?

Okay, I installed Python to my Windows 10 PC, and double-clicked the "n3ds_cdn_firm.py" file to open it like I'm supposed to. Nothing happened, I didn't get a "firm" folder or anything. I tried opening it in "IDLE 3.5 (32 bit)", and it looked like a programming editor, so I hit "run module" from there, figuring that it would open the program manually. I got an error message that says "Missing parenthesis in call to 'print' ".

I don't know how to write anything in Python, but the code looks easy enough to read, and somebody said it was possible to download manually, so I tried copy/pasting the address in the code in Firefox to see if I could just download the files myself. That didn't work either, I got to a page saying I needed HTTP authorization or something to access anything.

Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong?

Pretty sure it won't work. I tried it a year ago on my Japanese N3DS (but the browser I tried, admittedly, was the matching and correct N3DS 8.1 browser, not the one from 9.2), and it still told me I had to update the system to use it, so that didn't help at all.

Ofc the matching browser wouldn't work as its a dummy browser LOL
