Hacking How to play online (without getting banned) using Sky3DS+ and N3DS 9.9.0?

Hi all,

I would really appreciate any helpful suggestions any of you may have for me. First off, I have a Sky3DS+ and a New 3DS (N3DS) Ver. 9.9.0-21U. I was wondering how I can go about playing roms online? I've heard about private headers and everything, but can anyone point me (if a guide exists) or explain to me how to play games online using a N3DS 9.9.0-21U and a Sky3DS+?

I've heard about using a dongle, private headers, etc., but I just don't know where to start, and I'm not sure if any guides are for Gateway or Sky3DS+, or both, or you need a lower firmware. Is it possible to play online on a 9.9.0-21U with a Sky3DS+? If so, how?

If I were in your position I'd probably just forego using the cart and downgrade to 9.2 to set up a custom firmware instead. You can play installed CIAs without having to deal with private headers or anything.

Hi, Fenrir, I really appreciate your response.

What exactly do you mean by forego the cart? How would I be able to downgrade to 9.2 if I'm at a 9.9.0? And what exactly is a CIA?

Can I just keep it at 9.9.0 and use the Sky3DS+, and just use private headers? How would you go about doing that? I've read something about Powersaves?

For your main question, you need to have your own private header(the ones from your physical cartridge) in order for you to online without risking of getting any ban but yeah, AFAIK, you need powersaves to do that.

What he's saying basically is, why not just downgrade your 3DS to 9.2? In this case you won't be getting any problems getting a ban or stuff.

Just do the above only If you want to downgrade.

You need to enter the homebrew loader to downgrade

Try to use browserhax. if it wants an update to use the browser then use ninjhax instead

use sysupdater to downgrade to to 9.2

Thanks, Akira. Yeah, I was aware that I need to purchase a brand new game that I'd be able to get a private header from.

My problem, and main concern, is how do I go about extracting the private header and putting it into the roms that I want to go online with, specifically using a Sky3DS+?

Copied this directly on sky3ds faq page:

Q: I just purchased the latest version of Sky3ds+. wonder if you have the instruction to edit the private header for the online game play?
A: Open the file settings.txt, add in the line "CREATE_PER_GAME_SETTINGS=1"and save it, once got the file "xxxxx.CFG" for that online game built in your microSD card, open it and replace the value of the "GAMESAVE_KEY" and "CART_ID" with your private header info - the Unique_ID and Cart_ID, save it, and remove the old .SAV file, now enjoy your online play without ban risk!

So I guess Sky3ds+ still needs a private headers in order for you not to get banned. I only have Sky3DS bluebutton and I haven't used it for a while nor use it for online purposes so I don't have idea about online play. But, AFAIK, I read a post the only cases of online bans have where cart(Sky3ds) users using public headers.

Thanks, Akira, but it seems like that is only for the normal Sky3DS - not the Sky3DS+, which is the one I have.
