Because I heard it could corrupt SD card data, and i am replaying Bravely default, in which rebuilding Norende involves hours in sleep mode. Maybe i should play the game in sysnand instead since it's a retail card game and not a CIA?

When i start my 3ds in emunand, i always put it in sleep mode when i am not playing it. Although i do not recommend you to put a game in sleep mode while having your 3ds in a environment that make the 3ds shake a lot.

EDIT: shaking 3ds could eject the flashcart = error or black screen.

I guess maybe if it writes to the SD card and your 3DS loses connection to the SD card randomly while in sleep mode, it could corrupt, if it acts as if SD card was taken out while it was writing to it.

The only way I could see this happening is if the 3DS ran out of power while in sleep mode, but if that could cause the NAND to corrupt, we would have heard of a lot of cases of people's 3DSes getting bricked by running out of battery while in sleep mode. So no, there's no way that would happen, where do you hear things like this?! :wtf:

I dont see what Emunand could have to do with corrupting data on microsd while in sleep. Emunand uses the same storage as sysnand - your microsd.

Only thing that can and will happen in Emunand sleep is that you'll get update nags if you have Internet active.

Not at all, I leave my emuNAND in sleep mode all the time often until the battery is drained so that it shuts off and there are never any issues that arise from this.

I've left my system in emunand for months at a time plugged into a wall. Doing more damage to the battery than anything else

I've accidentally let my 3DS die whilst in sleep mode on emuNAND with no ill effects.

Should be fine, but maybe not HA!

I've actually had my n3ds lock up during sleep mode, but I never had any damage, that said I lost whatever I was playing at the time. It hasn't been enough of an issue that I'm afraid to leave it sleeping in emunand.

If it bothers you that much buy the cart and go legit. hacked stuff is always going to be iffy/risky.

I used to leave my 3ds on sleep for days, and usually plugged in like when I'm hooked on beating one game, or shiny hunting in Pokemon. Battery life I notice a difference, but I'm sure that's because the Gateway runs the battery dead faster.
