Hacking 4.xx Firmware Without Any Kind Of Flashcard?

Yeah, I had bookmarked that thread too. It was my understanding though after reading the Pasta CFW tutorial that I first had to get my FW updated to 4.x & then use Cubic Ninja just to install the Pasta hack itself. I guess I need to go back & read it again. There's been so much happened in the scene the past 1-2 years.

I've been out of the loop with illness for a good while so please forgive me with so many questions. I've been trying to read up on a lot of stuff but it's a lot to take in to be honest. Nothing like the simplicity in running things on the standard DS. Thanks!

Edit: Nevermind, I did see the Pasta CFW stripped down one that you provided too. I totally forgot about that one. I would rather use that one than have to buy 2 cartridges for all I need to do. I still may just get me a Gateway though. Do I still need to update to 4.x to use a Gateway flashcart? Thanks again!

You need at least, 4.xx for GW. I can't explain much on GW's though, I have never owned one myself. Gateway's work up to 9.2.

Hey I've been having a few of these problems as well, so I was hoping you guys could help me out. I just purchased a Ocarina of Time 3ds, updated it to 4.5.0-4U, and have been trying to run some homebrew. I've been having issues loading Ninjhax, as the lowest browser firmware they have for the QR codes is "-7". What would the easiest way to update my browser firmware so I can just use the Ninjhax exploit? Or would you guys recommend using the steps Jaitsu posted instead?

You need at least, 4.xx for GW. I can't explain much on GW's though, I have never owned one myself. Gateway's work up to 9.2.

That's all I needed to confirm. I'll do the rest in reading up more. I still am undecided on whether to just buy a Gateway which will require me to get a 4.x cartridge plus the Gateway flashcart itself or just get a 4.x cartridge to update & install CFW to do everything. I want the ability to play Roms & homebrew for sure. I'm worse that a woman in making decisions! LOL!

if spider rop loader work with your browser, that is the easiest method u can use without any physical card.

nope, cubic ninja is one of the method. u can either use cubic ninja or mset. however mset only work in fw 4.x which is related to the thread title.

using http://mkiddy.leerik.nl/mset/ to load the DS profile exploit. Unfortunately for me, it didn't work.

I am on firmware version 4.4.0-4U, US region, Browser version 1.7455

I'm probably going to be running into the same problem. Our son hasn't updated the FW or browser version from his O3DS since late 2011. I've been reading about this browser thing. I just ordered him a 4.5U cartridge from eBay to update the O3DS so we can install the MSET exploit to get to Pasta CFW without buying Gateway or Sky3DS.

Since both the FW & browser hasn't been updated in a good while I assume the browser will need to be updated too just to use the MSET exploit. How do we update the browser? I believe it's in the MSET tutorial posted on the forums but want to make sure by asking here. Thanks guys!

- It is possible to update the browser, but only one you have set up pbt or pasta cfw, so you need a ds flashcart at least the first time.

I wish I could be of more help to you guys, sorry. That guide and another explanation I made in another thread of how all the exploits work pretty much sum up the extent of my knowledge. But by the way, updating to a 4.5 FW updates the browser too, if that's what you're asking, unless you're saying you want the 9.x browser... which I think is doable, but don't take my word for it, and I'm not sure whether or not everything works right if you have the 9.x browser on otherwise 4.x firmware. I have a few DS flashcarts, so I installed the gateway DS Profile exploit with GW_installer.nds from the 3.2.2 package. How would I actually go about updating the firmware from "-4" to "-7"?
