So as for no 3D. Does this mean that the SNES emulator will run in 3D? Because this exploit isn't supposed to let you run 3ds games.

Either way I'll probably buy the game whenever it's announced and avoid updating for a while. I was wondering if there's any information as to whether or not we will be able to safely update and, more importantly, if this hack will be tracable by Nintendo so that if I did end up eventually updating I didn't risk getting banned.
just because homebrew as a whole is capable of doing something doesnt mean every single piece of homebrew will use it....maybe we will see some sort of 3d enabled on a snes emulator ....maybe not, its down to each individual dev to decide the scope of their project....also not running 3DS roms does not mean does not run homebrew in 3D....it simply means you cannot pirate games that where made for the 3DS

as for nintendo possibly banning people.......quite simply nobody knows, nintendo doesnt exactly drop by gbatemp and say "oh btw we plan to ban people at some point in time" its just as likely they can detect people using NDS flashcards....imho it would be more likely they would ban people pirating NDS games than running homebrew....but again i think both eventualities are pretty unlikely and i doubt nintendo have any plans to ban anyone for anything or so it seems so far

they would more than likely issue a update and block it working and draw a line under it

Alight, thanks for all of your input! So in closing, given the choice would you pick the DStwo or ssspwn?
....all depends on if you depend on eshop access or want to see what homebrew will emerge for the 3DS....personally i would pick homebrew any day, but again it also depends on how quickly they respond and if they have time to get a update into the smash bros cart(if you want to get smash bros that is).....personally i think smash bros will be safe from updates at this point, but it just depends on how badly nintendo care about blocking a homebrew only exploit

I have a question, too. Is there anyone who can decrypt Virtual Console SD .sav files? I don't intend on editing it; I just need to check for some specific data in the save.

Is anyone able to answer this question? I would go through pages upon pages of information, but not all information is relevant when it comes to save encryption and decryption, mainly due to the fact that save encryption has changed so much in the last 2 to 3 years.

if you can convert the game to use the card1 style saving you can then change the encryption type by hex editing too, i will have a look for a thread i made a while back
Edit: here you go
http://gbatemp.net/threads/decrypt-re-encrypt-saves-for-most-games-sort-of.364522/

but just so your aware the card2 -> doesnt work on all games, and not many of the VC games work with it

You talking about this one? I already saw it. It mentions nothing about how to read an encrypted game, let alone 'convert' it. I don't have a Gateway, and I just wanted to be able to send someone my save and have them send me back the decrypted file.

ahhh ok never mind, no i don't think there is any methods for decrypting saves unless they where using the CTR fail encryption method....or like pokemon that has had tons of research into the structure of the save to make bruteforce decryption possible

How does Datel decrypt saves sent to them? Is it theoretically possible to get ahold of Datel and ask them to decrypt my save by me sending it to them? Also, I have another question; can you use all features of a Gateway with a 2DS, which has NO WiFi Switch? I think I read somewhere that installing some part of the GW software requires the WiFi switch to be Off.

pretty sure the decryption of eshop content would need to be done on the console it belongs to,

and gateway will only work on consoles with the firmware in the 4.x region, so you cannot use any of the gateway features with a 2ds as they came with a minimum firmware of 6.x...but for the record the wifi switch would make no difference that was just people who where paranoid that the 3ds would get updated past 4.x accidentally

Does anyone know if Pokebank works without being on the latest firmware?
I want to purchase a pass before smea's exploit comes out, but I don't want to buy Pokebank then immediately loose access to it.

I don't really need to know the answer to this but;

Since the only way to update a 3DS is via Wifi, is it possible to get the link for Nintendo's Official Site/Server ( URL that hosts the update/ connects to Nintendo ) and just block it in my Firewall etc.?

That way whenever I or anyone connects via Wifi, Official Nintendo Servers are blocked, so we would be unable to know whether an update is released.

Quick question about the Gateway, do you need to use the bluecard to initiate the start up process every time you power off/on the console? I was using it with just the red card in with no problems, pulling it out and putting the microsd card in my computer to add things to it etc etc and never had to do anything else. The other day my battery died so the console obviously completely shut down, when I turned it back on I could not press select to view my games and play them, and going into the nintendo DS profile option in settings did not launch the "launcher". I had to actually set the blue card up again, "install gateway" and then go into settings etc etc.

I'm just wondering if this is normal and you need to do it everytime you turn off the device, or if I should be able to turn it on and off with just the red card in and do everything I want to.

I just bought a 3DS XL with 4.4 FW and ordered the Gateway 3DS. I found a thread that linked to a site that explained how to dump my games with the Gateway (and possibly the saves as well), but from what I understand, I also need to back up my NAND and create an emuNAND as well. Where should I start? I read through some of the links in the OP, still a tad confused but I generally learn best by experience rather than reading. I'd like to know, especially, if there is a way I can transfer my data from my old 3DS to this new one once I have the emuNAND set up? I have a lot of games on here, and I'm thinking of selling this old 3DS if I can successfully get it all on the new one.

Saves have nothing to do with Gateway. Just make sure your using same Rom/Region. Saves are stored on your 3DS SD, not the Gateway ( I think DS saves are on Gateway micro, idk)

My idea involves Blocking Nintendo URL Via DNS in router. This should work unless you absolutely have to connect to Nintendo servers to even use Wifi

I meant, I was hoping I could keep my save games from the retail carts and continue with them on the Gateway. Is that possible?

Can I transfer all my eShop games and whatnot to the new 3DS? Does the Gateway require space on the standard-sized SD card the 3DS came with, or is it all stored on the microSD cards (other than the saves, correct?)?

Hi guys, how are you all doing? :D
I need help with Pokémon Y - is there still a way to "hack" them? I mean, the idea is to have trained Poké - perfect IV's, moves and EV distribution for example - without the hard work haha
Many thanks in advance!

I believe this, or an MT-Card with AR will be able to achieve trained pokemons without the effort of playing the game.

The GateWay team is probably also working on a AR feature.

Can you use a single Gateway card on multiple 3DSes?

For example, if I have a Japanese 3DS and a European 3DS, would I need to buy two Gateway cards?

Hi All!

I'm planning to buy a lot of DLC for Fire Emblem and NSMB2 and need some advices concerning how not to lose any DLC in future.

I heard that if I open System Settings=>Data Management while on emuNAND I'll lost all DLC and will be compelled to re-download them again from eShop. Is that true?
I just thought that Nintendo will release v9 or v10 firmware soon and if I accidentally lose my DLC it'll be impossible to download them without access to eShop.

So how to stay safe? :)
