Well this is probably the first legit GW brick that makes me very uncomfortable. Really shows that it CAN indeed brick your device even if you have a legit GW.

Insert your SD card in your computer and check the MD5 on the Launcher.dat, will you? If the MD5 isn't corrupted, I'm starting to extremely worried if I'm even going to use my Gateway until the problem is solved or the launcher is safer, even though this has happened to rather few people thus far.

I'm all in for Gateway protecting their properties, but this is indeed frightening, even for us legit users with proper SD cards and a completely legit Gateway.

I support GW even now, i don´t like how the clones stole their work, but i think this too much.

GW contact mail?

MD5 checks in alright , so this is creepy. It feels like my 3DS has become a ticking time bomb just waiting to explode. Gateway needs to get their heads together and fix this because their legit customers should not be afraid to use their device, even though this is relatively easy to fix through sending the device in for repair at Gateway's HQ, it is still a mess to do and it costs money for something that shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Contact your vendor and Gateway on their support team like their official statement said. Hopefully you have a backup of the eMMC (NAND) before formatting the SD card for EmuNAND. They should fix it, but it'll cost you money in shipping to them which they won't take care of. They'll see it's a legit brick, fix it and send it back free of charge. Follow their instructions and get it sent in and show them that this certainly isn't safe for either clones or their own customers.

Now GW gonna call you R4 mafia too?:glare:

Anyway your only hope is to send it to GW but I personally wouldnt do that. Dont trust them enough for it. But if you do take the chance, try to make GW pay for the shipping cost too. Its only reasonable if their card is the cause for the brick right?

Or wait for appolloooo (someone with gw brick too) to send his unit to gw and see how it goes. If they repair it then you can safely send to gw for repair.

Really sucks dude, sorry for your loss.

I already rolled mine back to b1. Never had any saves issues when using it and still have my sd with 6.X emunand on it (for retail play :) ).

Little bit unstable when booting, but fine most of the time. I'm sticking with it until this all blows over or a home fix comes out.

I'd rather the occasional failed boot, then the chance of a brick (no matter how rare it is).

Wow, that's horrifying. I wanted to believe that the previous GW owners were in fact lying about being legit gateway users.. but the evidence is far too strong now. I'm sorry for your loss and hope the Gateway team actually helps out those affected. I'm sticking to 1.2 for a while, it seems.

I just said, it can happen even with their sanity checks in place, but no one believes me. If i were you, i would wait for a fix to come out so you can fix this by yourself instead of sending it to Gateway and lose money. But it is your choice.

Noone believes you because you don't say why it can still happen with even the sanity checks in place. That's the whole point of the sanity check, to prevent brick code from running?
Also you seem to be spewing hate on GW every chance you get so people tend to take you as biased then

This can still be a case of regular 3DS bricking as has happened before

wouldn't it of been less hassle and now money spent, to just buy the game"s", oppose to pirating them?
$80 for a GW & $170 for the console, laid to wast.
vs.
$40 tops for the game, + price of console with no concern of Brick in sight.
not that there's a whole library of great games available, to even warrant the need to pirate.
personally I'm happy as a clam with only owning PokeX/Y, MH3U, and Zelda LBW.

I apologize if this seems like drama, but I feel like face-palming every time I read a "GW bricked my.." thread.
knowing 100% bricking could have been avoided.
