Hacking Need some guidance on updating my R4 card

I have this card:


it was working fine on my 3DS for playing DS games. I just updated the FW from 3.xx to 4.5 (from shin megami tensei iv) and now the r4 card will not load.

I believe I need to update the card itself to work with 3DS 4.5 but not sure how this is done. tried looking for the patch files for 4.5 but cannot find any.

the official website: http://www.r4idsn.com/download.asp only has a patch for 3DS 6.2:
3DS6.2 patch is released now!(for R4iDSN 3DS card only)(Aug.06,2013)

R4iDSN 3DS card can support 3DS V6.2.0-12

The update adds support for version 6.2, it'll still work on 4.5.

so i can update the card to 6.2 and keep my 3DS FW at 4.5, and it will work? i was under the impression that the 3DS FW needs to match the card one.

Nope. For flashcards like Gateway and the like, it's true that the operable range of Firmwares is 4.1-4.5... But for DS Mode flashcards like the one you have, it will typically support all firmwares up the the ones mentioned.
In this case, it means the R4iDSN card with the newest update supports firmwares 6.2 and below, meaning 4.5 is supported.
