Sure, technically, in the same way that the Black Death is technically a worse gift, but nobody in their right mind is going to consider that anyway so it's irrelevant.

"Pride goeth before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall."

It's kind of Nintendo's fault for not supporting the system properly. No marketing, no games, etc. There's probably still people who think the Wii U is an add-on for the Wii.

The gap between the Wii U vs PS4 is actually smaller than Wii vs PS3. The Wii is a 11 GFLOPS machine vs the PS3 which is capable of over 200 GFLOPS, a difference of nearly 19 times. The Wii U is a 350 GFLOPS machine vs the PS4 which is a 1840 GFLOPS machine. The difference this time around is only about 5 times.

Well, it does say "TECH" gifts ...

On the other hand, if you know where to get the Black Death in the form of an electronics device ... DO WANT

As a counter to Cnet's advise lol

I recently tried Amazon's instant video streaming on the PS3 and I liked it so I am actually thinking about keeping it for the $80 bucks a year it seems worth it.

Then I tried it out on the Wii-U, they actually made fantastic use of the pad... Insanely better than Netflix in that respect. Very nice to use and I am impressed.

A Wii-U combined with a year membership to Amazon prime, if some one wanted HD streaming movies you probably couldn't do much better for a gift.

Hmm...to a point I can understand how the ones who tell their family they want a "game console", don't want to find a wiiu when they open their present. But that doesn't make it a bad gift. And compared to the rest of the list, it's pretty retarded.

CNET, parent company of Gamespot at the center of the Kane & Lynch controversy. I guess Nintendo didn't line CNET's pockets sufficiently.

With the PS4 and the XBox One on the horizon, the Wii U is a terrible electronics gift this season. Disagree all you want, this is the author's opinion.

I would have accepted the guys opinion had he defended it in any way. It's a stupid argument to make:

"This thing will firesale this holiday season but don't get it because nobody wants it."

Now you see for me, if somebody gave me a xb1 or ps4, at first I would be like "ummm.... Okay..." but then I would probably at least try it out before I decided to sell it or return it. It wouldn't be my first choice, but it wouldn't be terrible. It's the same thing.

Considering the number of Wii U's sold so far, I think it's pretty fair to assume that people aren't exactly storming stores to get one. Interest is clearly moderate at best, which is why it was deemed a "poor" surprise gift.
