We will eventually make a new thread for the patch specifically. At this point I believe we are waiting until there are better screenshots to post. That said, I doubt having the first post have answers to commonly asked questions in foot high letters would reduce the number of stupid posts asking those questions.

Unfortunately I fear you are correct. Anyone who really cares but knows better than to ask stupid questions would at least spend the time to look through a few pages and would find the answers. Most others would just ask and expect an answer once they realized it's not complete.

On another note, thank you to you, and everyone else working on this...

*Wanders off aimlessly*

I must say, Sporky has been translating as hell, we just don't have everything inserted back and we're waiting for all the menus to be done (because I've made a little change to the code who fix the english caracters but fucked up all the japanese using a specific encoding for size issue purpose)

So yeah, people will have to learn to be patient especially when we are NOT doing this for money or anything so we are working on this on our free time only.

Is it possible to have a "bêta patch" link ? Awesome works anyways guys keep it on !!!!
That has been debated, and we have for now decided no. Even if we were going to, there basically isn't a beta patch. I haven't yet played a beta patch, but we'll keep you updated as things develop.

Edit: I suppose I should clarify, the patch we used to make the screenshots earlier in the thread were more of a proof of concept, just a few thousand lines of the ~80k for just the menu patch.

Hey there, registered just because I saw this. Funny story, I got quite a ways without any patching, but I messed up and erased my game data somehow due to failure to read correctly. I actually restarted Japanese because of this game.

I wish I had started earlier so that I can help you guys, the anime for this was amazing and I love seeing it turned into a game like this. I only know about 200 or so kanji and my grammar isn't exactly fluent yet, so I don't know if I could be of any use to you guys. But please, if there is anything at all we can do to contribute don't hesitate to ask!

If you know about 200 kanji, you're sure to be a great help.

I'm willing to audition anyone who wants to help, I only have a few hundred memorized on sight, and have to use a dictionary for the rest. It makes the work go more slowly, but knowing the grammar is more important for our purposes.

I'd say 200 kanji is probably insufficient to translate JRPGs. I didn't really start getting any useful understanding until I hit about 500.

Also, this game is a bit unusual in that it uses an 8x8 font that includes kanji. That means your recognition skills need to be better than normal due to their small size.

If you want to learn kanji, head over here (no, I don't work for them).

It looks like a cool website.
The TextFugu also seems nice.

I think that depends on the pacing and translator availability, not to mention the style of the game, which can go from slangy to outright classy. Right now I'm not working and my classes are relatively easy. Not to mention I enjoy translating so I'm not likely to take breaks. That gives me an advantage of time since right now they are only doing this in their free time IIRC.

Have you played Black Rock Shooter(Raw version)? How would you rate it's font in Easy to Hard? I tracked down all the kanji in the first few scenes but only translated around a paragraph or two. I'll never forget having to find the "淵" character. Even right now I have no idea what radicals that thing uses besides the leftmost one. lol Thankfully I document all the kanji I ever find.

One thing that has been invaluable to me is that since one of our programmers Omarios has extracted the text files from the game, aa kanji I don't know can be cut and pasted into an online dictionary rather than having to look it up by skip code, that saves a lot of time.
