I got my Homepass Network working but I have a few questions.
After I make the virtual access point and write a mac on the CMD, then start virtual router, should I go to internet settings and test the connection, then go to the home menu and turn it to sleep mode? (I already have the virtual access point registered in my 3ds) I wanna know what cycle do you guys go through.
And once the 3DS is in sleep mode, in virtual router, it takes 2 minutes for the 3DS to pop up and then I get my streetpass, but I only get one streetpass in all the games. Is that normal?
And when I put my 3DS to sleep mode again, it doesn't get a streetpass. I tried changing the mac, i think that's what you should do everytime anyway, I don't get my streetpass.
Can I get an explanation of the exact process please? Cause I'm like

You can only get one streetpass hit per mac address every 8 hours. If you want more streetpass hits during that period then you will have to change the mac address to the next one.

I use a batch program that I wrote to setup the wireless hotspot and cycle through the mac address all in the command prompt window. While the batch program is running I leave my 3DS in sleep mode and it picks up a new streetpass hit in less than a minute after each mac address change.

Hey, is this blocked with the latest 3DS update? It's apparently only for the e-shop, but Nintendo tends to sneak in other updates too.

Not blocked and it cannot be blocked by a 3DS system update. If they find a way to block it, it will be on their server side and that could happen at any time and there is nothing we could do about it. The only sort of 3DS update they could do that would kill the HomePass network would be one that kills the relay system for everyone.

I don't see them trying to break this though honestly. If anything, it promotes sales of their Mii Plaza games as well as any other games that has StreetPass functionality.

The nintendo zone icon appears on your 3DS whenever it is in range of a wireless connection with the SSID "attwifi", even if you can't connect to it. However to get the streetpass relay fuction to work your 3DS needs to be able to connect to the virtual wireless access point and via it access the internet.

That is my problem. I can't connect to it with my 3ds.

I think I got the hang of things. And I have a question:
In Virtual Router Manager, sometimes it detects the 3DS in sleep mode and then it suddenly goes off. Is it normal? (only happens after got the first streetpass and cycled to second mac)

With Chauldron's program make sure that you rename your physical wireless adaptor "Wi-Fi" for it to work properly. Also make sure that the macshift program is in the same folder/location as the program.

His program like mine is designed to handle everything within the command prompt window, so you don't need the virtual router program.

Oh, I switched to Snailface's mac cycler. But mac shift is in another place. Is it a problem? And my adapter is named Wi-Fi

With snailface's program I don't think it matters if macshift is in a different place, though you will need to confirm that with him.

Do you mean that the Virtual Router Manager program doesn't detect your 3DS or the program itself closes?

I see that you are using a wireless card with an Atheros chipset, Kervidgen mentioned that he had to use custom Atheros drivers to allow him to be able to change the mac address on his wireless card. Even then the first part of mac address for his wireless hotspot would always be offset to '0E' instead oif '4E'.

Is the address on the virtual wifi miniport similar to the one you tried to set on it or is it completey different?

So i put 0E instend

Hi there!
Since there there is still no tutorial for setting up the Street Pass Relay on Windows 7, and i just recently managed to do it (with a lot of help from the info already posted on the thread), here is a quick explanation. I already sent this to the OP so he can put it on the first posts and complete the [HOW TO]. Feel free to delete this post when you do it, for clearness sake.
Street Pass Relay on Windows 7:
Requirements:
A wired connection
A Wifi card (i tested this on an old 1390 WLAN card, so i guess most should work).
Connect your computer through your wired connection and disconnect from any wireless one.
The Setup:
Just install Virtual Router, unzip Mac Shift on an accesible folder (or just the root of your C: drive) and run the following from a command line with administrator privileges (Type "cmd" without quotes on the search box of your start menu, when the "cmd.exe" file appears, just shift-click it and select "Run as Administrator"):
Code:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow
This will set up a Virtual Wifi Miniport on your network connections.
Then, still on command line, go to the folder where you unzipped Mac Shift (If you unzipped it on C:\, you may want to type "Cd \" without quotes) and type:
Code:
macshift -i "YOUR WIFI CONNECTION NAME"* macaddress**
*Your wifi name should be the name of your Wireless Network Adapter typed just as it appears on your "Network Connections" folder, for example, for me it was "Wireless Network Connection". Please take in mind that this should be your Wireless Network adapter name, and NOT the one of your just-created "virtual network", nor the name of your wired adapter.
** Mac Address should be typed without ":", for example, 4E53504F4F46
So, this line should look something like:
Code:
macshift -i "Wireless Network Connection" 4E53504F4F46
Run Virtual Router Manager.
Complete the network name (Should be "attwifi")
Put any password you like (remember to set up your connection on your 3DS later!).
As "shared connection", select your Wired Adapter.
Click on "Start Virtual Router", wait a few seconds, and you should get your street pass!
To cycle between MACs:
Just don't close your command line window!
Press the UP arrow to bring back your last typed command, and change the last numbers of the mac address. This will restart your network connections (I stopped the Virtual Router every time before changing my MAC and restarted ir after doing so, but i don't believe this is necessary).
Remember that, when you stop the Virtual Router, you should stop seeing the "attwifi" network, so no problem from neighbors stealing your internet (which was secured anyway). If you want to remove the Virtual Wifi Miniport, just type the following in an administrator privileged command line:
Code:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=disallow
And, to return your Wifi Adapter to it's original MAC address:
Code:
macshift -i "Wireless Network Connection" -r
Enjoy!

(I hope i didn't miss anything! Please post your feedback!)
Ok, so following these instructions, I've gotten to the part with the wifi name being the wireless network adapter as it appears on your Network Connections folder. There is nothing showing up, so i looked at properties of my wifi and i noticed the option "Allow other network users to connect through this computers internet connection" was unchecked, so i checked it and an error came up saying "An error occurred while Internet Connection Sharing was being enabled.
Internet Connection Sharing cannot be enabled. A LAN connection is already configured with the IP address that is required for automatic IP addressing."

Can anyone help me out? I have been trying for hours to get this working and im sure this is the only thing i might be missing. I went ahead trying to use the "Wireless Connection" as the one that gets set up sometimes but it goes away. I;m very confused and I would love to share my progress with all of you in the DLC games and all the pink puzzle pieces that I have. If someone could walk a fellow streetpasser maniac through this I would be very grateful.

I also forgot to mention I am using Windows 8 software and yes, I checked in Command Prompt to see if my computer was capable of creating a hotspot and yes it is

Send a message to Radz to see if he knows if you can get a custom driver for your particular wireless card model.

Under network connections there should be entry for your wireless adaptor. For example here is a screenshot of what I have under network connections in Windows 7

My physical wireless adaptor is called "Wireless Network Connection", so that is the name I use in the command to set the mac address.

Alright I got it working... but the MAC address won't change and whenever I try to connect to the hotspot I made with my 3DS it wont let me at the very end of the process and it says error details blah blah. On my Ipod touch I tries to test the internet and I can successfully connect showing the 3 bars, but whenever I try to load something, it starts and stops as if I'm not connected to anything at all. It's as if theres internet but theres something not allowing it to transfer data with the handhelds... any ideas?

Also, Idk if this will help or not, but if I click on the hotspot adapter in this case mine would be "Local Area Connection", I see some the status of it and it says I've sent about 1034 packets of information in about 7 min and 29 seconds, but I have received 0...

See? The MAC address isn't changing..

Ok, so the question for me at this point is more like: Do I need the ethernet cable to be the primary internet connection? Like can I run this all on Wi-Fi or do i need that connected, but my computer needs to be plugged into the ethernet cable to work?
Because I tried ethernet and I almost got it, but my sister started complaining it was my fault her computers internet decided to stop working so my dad made me unplug and go wireless. So basically the only way I can do this is wireless at this point.
