Just bought this game 2 days ago, been getting really into it. Took me a while to figure out that I was actually leveling up characters, I thought there was an option to do that.

I'll be honest, I kinda like this game. I traded in Mario Kart 7 and Black Ops 2 for it, and I'm really really surprised at how much fun it is. Don't get me wrong, I love Mario Kart, but I like how much faster this game is.

I also remember reading on this site (can't remember by who) that the game doesn't support Off Tv play. And I just found out today by mistake that it does. I ended up being last for 2 laps then I actually managed to come in first and win the race lol.

SEGA does...
...what Nintendon't.
Seriously though, that's great - good to hear it's a fun game. The first one felt a little bit "unpolished", so it's nice to know that the sequel is enjoyable.

You summed that up perfectly. However when it comes to multiplayer and items, the game it dogcrap compared to Mario Kart.Although the flying and floating on water parts are neat but it could have been better. Rated 7.95/10 fair?

Multiplayer is fun!

Some of the items are.. well, let's be honest, just reskinned Mario Kart items, but some of them are fun. The Hot Rod, the snowball and Firework are all my favorite. Which I guess would be the equivalent of.... actually you know, this game reminds me more of Diddy Kong Racing then it does Mario Kart.

SnowBall and Hotrod are acceptable, firework suck and a waste of an item.Honestly, alot of the items work kinda the same.Multiplayer is fun, however, when going playing with friends,it's not as much fun.Items are supposed to effect the gameplay very much.Boosting and combo's to your goal is fun.I'm not trying to say this game sucks, because it's awesome. But the lack of great items is game breaking.

It is pretty fun, but I think the lack of good instructions really hurt it. I actually read the instructions first since I found the controls a bit much to get used to (though, to be fair my gf and I traded off gamepad / wiimote nunchuck --- and they are just different enough to be screwy) and it would have been nice to know all the details about drifting and stunts / danger boosts outside of the random loading quip.

The mutliplayer is pretty awesome, especially locally --- but the game does have a bit of a learning curve both with the controls and courses (so... so much terrain o.O). And well... the constant character re-selection in multi and the lack of selecting duplicate characters is pretty stupid. And then there's the fact I always seem to spawn as a boat (on dry land) the first time we play battle during a session...

That was probably me. I've looked for it, but I have no idea how to enable it.

As for me...yeah, I've bought it about a week ago as well (couple days after release of the demo). I'm having a lot of fun on it as well. Perhaps even more than the others. However, there are some things that kinda throw things off. Haven't played the prequel, but I'd say they still have some work to do on things I've come to see as 'basic'.

-about half the characters are unlocked by playing the world tour. Though I've just finished the game...

...and found out that there is at least one extra chapter with mirrored maps as well as an EVEN HARDER difficulty setting

...I'm still nowhere near unlocking everyone. And I feel that some characters will require ridiculously precise driving.

-the hot run simply doesn't work with the alternative setup. Instead of starting the boosting it automatically unleashes the dash.
-a couple bugs
-unlocking all the levels start to feel like grinding. Not to forget that you barely get experience if you don't complete an event (running out of time on a ring race half a second before the finish: 300 experience. finishing it with less than half a second: 1500 experience).
-NO RESET TO THE TRACK-BUTTON!!! (combined with the twister, this REALLY gets on your nerves at times)
-with the different terrain, it becomes pretty hard to know where you're supposed to be going at times. Especially since you have to start drifting half an hour in advance on some curves.

Don't get me wrong: it's still an awesome game. But it lacks polish. :(

Yes I play this game at my friends house all the time. It looks great and the multiplayer is awesome! You do need to put some serious play time to consistently come in first online. I also noticed that the large characers don't have such a feeling of being slowed down. Has anyone else noticed this?

So I've come to the conclusion that this game is really hard to 100%. It's also a lot more balanced than Mario Kart. But fuck me, the S class in this game is just insane!

What does the image say? For some reason, it doesn't load on my end.

I'm also still playing. But I kinda gave up on the world tour. After REALLY grinding to get to 120 stars, it just unlocked 2 extra races and then I had to have 150 or even 180 stars to continue. And that's really not going to happen soon.

What's also kinda sad is that there are tricks I didn't know about.
-pressing the gas when the screen fades to black (and only then) gives you a boost start (meaning you can get from that ridiculous 10th place all the time).
-when in the air (when not a plane), pressing the right analog stick causes you to do some flips. When landed correctly, these also give you a boost.

I'm sure there are more tricks to drifting as well. At least, I usually see bots and even online players just pass me by while I'm doing it. And by that I mean I think I'm doing it pretty close to perfect (which obviously, ISN'T perfect).

And yeah...S rank is insane.I've only managed to win a race once (the easiest), and even that was with a good item from the jackpot (free boost every round, IIRC) and a huge amount of luck with the pick-ups (all stars near the end of the race). And even then, it was nail bitingly close.

There's just no way I'm ever going to unlock those last characters. If anyone knows cheat codes for it...just gimme a pm, okay? :)

About being a "Mario Kart clone" with items: basically some items in kart racers are so basic it's hard to NOT rip them off. Like Green Shells and Red Shells. Practically every kart racer has an equivalent. I mean it's an items that moves in a straight line and one that tracks the nearest opponent. Makes sense.

I have heard rather solid things about Transformed though, apparently it's leagues better than the first game (which was an okay kart racer but nothing memorable). Maybe I'll pick this up later.
